Comments (3)Sheesh, you caught me with your subject line - I think I was expecting a petting zoo or something with live frolicking creatures! Maybe not so unusual; my sil has her golden lab Abbeys ashes in a decorative metal box provided by their vet, but not displayed. She was so sensitive about the subject of losing her pet I haven't asked about the ashes for a long time to know if they've been spread. Dispersed? I'm not sure what the right word is.... It's been SO stormy today, relentless wind and rain. I have anything that could get damp up off the floor in my basement now (tomorrows forecast even worse) where I'd let clutter get away from me...time for my microwave pillow and a nap!...See MoreFellow animal lovers, I need your help...
Comments (29)YEH!!! you got a new shelter dog!!! I live on 20 acres and have 16 dogs (all fixed). I keep them basically in three groups. I have lots of fencing and cross-fencing. My husband has electrified the bottom of the fence in some of the areas. I do have several that would kill each other if they got together but I've got it managed well. So I laugh when people think a third dog is "crazy." I don't work and that's helpful, of course. Late last year I did give my pug to rescue. There's a strong pug rescue group in my state so I knew she'd probably find a better place than here. I didn't think I could keep her from becoming obese. So I recently replaced her with a new shelter dog. He's so cute. He's gentle and quiet so far - an important thing when you have so much canine energy in one place. So many, many great dogs in the shelters - I could find one any day in there that I would just LOVE!!. vicky...See MoreQuestion for animal/cat lovers
Comments (9)After spending countless hours and $$$ over the past few months at the vet with my dearly adored Himalayan who began by showing similar signs...I discovered her angst, behavioral changes and eventual small [and hidden] body lesions were the result her kitty litter. Apparently, World's Best has changed their "formula" and whatever they've done has had an extremely adverse effect on my cat. There'll be no more corn based litter in this house. Because none of the meds that I administered seemed to work...and "our" extremely talented vet had run out of ideas...I kept poking into "our" daily lives searching for an answer. The discovery was almost accidental...but confirmed when I bought a new litter box and new litter out of desperation. The moment I put the box on the floor...she jumped in for a closer look. Upon addition of the new Swheat litter...she jumped in again and immediately christened it. Mind you...my "only" child has never had to deal with any accumulation in her litter box because she immediately comes to me to report any "contributions". So the condition of her litter box is always near immaculate. I thought I had that situation under control. I never considered it was the litter itself until I went to buy a new supply and got into a discussion with the supplier. The moral of this story...animal changes may often be caused by something very simple. After spending well over $600...I wish I'd had this epiphany earlier. We've been happy ever since with the lesions almost completely gone and her loving personality firmly in tact. HTH.....Anne...See MoreAnimal Lover to Gardeners.....I get it
Comments (17)I don't have as much trouble with wild animals as I do with neighborhood dogs. They seem to like to use my garden for a playground and my plants suffer. Now I like dogs as long as they are properly cared for and behave but when they mess with my garden that I have put in several hours of work and several dollars I draw the line. If the owners won't do something about it, I will....See Moreamylou321
