What's going on with my Green Giant Arboritae?
Comments (6)they need constant proper water the first season.. and most likely.. ONLY water in severe drought the second ... and should be totally free range by next season ... [maybe you can recycle the drip.. and sell it to the neighbor.. lol ... the color contrast looks stark.. because the plant is not large or thick enough.. to hold the interior green .... in a few years.. the bronze will be a much cooler winter effect ... but if there is any insignificant damage.. the plant will recover.. but you will not know until its start budding out ... i wouldnt waste any time worrying about it ... i will note.. and give kudos for having a single leader tree .... it appears the neighbor did not ... are all your trees such???? ken...See MoreWhat is this giant green thing in my garden?
Comments (19)Hahahaha, Doris, I'm sure I'll be cussing it too when it comes back. I know after digging it out for an hour, I didn't get it all. Oh man. The root was HUGE. About 7 inches in diameter... it had a nice fresh fragrance.. I debated dragging into the kitchen for a gourmet experiment but the coin toss got it into the compost bin or next to it at least... I'm glad I didn't try cooking it after reading your post, Jayco! Bluesunflower, lol i know! I swear it was growing 3 inches a day... btw I saw your pics on the May flowers thread. You are an amazing photographer and your garden is just gorgeous! Woweeee... Goodhors and blueberrier, thanks for the home remedy suggestions... I'll definitely need them for some large thistles....See MoreWhat is wrong with my green beans
Comments (9)Something very similiar happened to my pole beans(Emerite & Fortex)so I am very curious to see if anybody knows what the problem is. My beans grew very quickly up a 6 foot trellis, filled in nicely and had tons of blossoms and I was starting to get beans. Then the growth slowed, the blossoms dropped, the leaves turned yellow and eventually started dropping, and of course the bean production dropped off to almost nothing. The weather was dry, daytime temps low to mid 90s, night time temps in the 60s. I planted the beans in a row that had other plants planted in half of the row about a month earlier, but the drip system was watering the whole row. I didn't re-fertilize the section I planted the beans in so I wonder if most of the nitrogen was watered out. I added some nitrogen and there was some new growth, but it was late enough in the season I didn't see a huge improvement. I didn't think beans need much nitrogen, so it seems strange that a lack of nitrogren would have such a devastating effect. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks. Comments (16)i agree they do not look like green giants... unless they have been sheared annually.. they look more like emerald greens.. aka smargards ... the injury looks exactly like a limb was ice damaged and splayed.. and someone went int here.. and cut it out.. hence the suggestion you go up there and look.. did you have winter damage?? https://duckduckgo.com/?q=ice+splayed+arborvitae&t=ffab&iar=images&iax=images&ia=images do you have someone who maintains these for you??? .. who does the edging.. since you dont seem to know what that means???? ken...See More- 4 years ago
