What's going on with my Green Giant Arboritae?
Comments (6)they need constant proper water the first season.. and most likely.. ONLY water in severe drought the second ... and should be totally free range by next season ... [maybe you can recycle the drip.. and sell it to the neighbor.. lol ... the color contrast looks stark.. because the plant is not large or thick enough.. to hold the interior green .... in a few years.. the bronze will be a much cooler winter effect ... but if there is any insignificant damage.. the plant will recover.. but you will not know until its start budding out ... i wouldnt waste any time worrying about it ... i will note.. and give kudos for having a single leader tree .... it appears the neighbor did not ... are all your trees such???? ken...See MoreWhat's wrong with my Green Giant Arborvitae

Comments (11)to repeat some ... interior browning is normal.. no conifer holds its needles forever ... they are a full sun plant for prime growth.. yours appear shaded.. which will not hurt them.. other than reduce vigor to some extent ... i doubt they had mites ... i think your sales man made part of a boat payment ... otherwise ... and this is going to be hard for you ... THEY LOOK ABOUT NORMAL... you have rather large transplants.. that is not favored here ... they take longer to get 'established' ... and the shade issue may extend that .. and they are probably still working on that ... seriously .. that looks like a normal GG .. and its alive.. what more do you want ... seriously.. they grew 2 feet in a year.. 2 years after a large transplant.. and you are not happy about it???? what more can they do.. barbie you a burger and fetch a beer .. then what.. you will complain the beer was warm .... lol i suspect.. your only problem is your expectations of more ... GG NEVER live up to the hype that surrounds them .. they are not going to grow 3 to 5 or more feet per year .. IMHO good luck ken...See MoreI think my Green Giant Arbs are in transplant shock
Comments (6)shipping/handling damage ... imagine some studly young man .. grabbing them by the fist full and throwing them on trucks ... on the black top at bigboxstore.. you throwing them int eh trunk.. dragging them across the yard ... etc ... [landscaper dudes] ALL VERY COMMON .. how do you know you give 6 gals.. with a soaker hose ... or do you mean you have metered irrigation hose??? i would have soaked them deep at planting.. in my sand ... mulched well .. and here in MI.. they probably wouldnt not have needed water for a month .. i can not fathom ... the need for water every other day ... unless they did not wet the root mass planted ... completely ... insert your finger.. thru your mulch.. and do not water again ... until it is near dry ... do not water on a schedule.. insert finger.. and figure out.. how water works in your soil ... no one can really tell you how it works in your soil .. you dont mention where you are.. so i cant compare to my MI experience ... do not take pix in full sun ... it washes out the pix ... i agree.. they look pretty darn good at this point. .. just cut out the brown stuff .. back to live tissue.. it will fill in .. do the same with the black stuff ... the things you call bids.. are cones or pollen sacs ... and should be a different color ... if there is a warranty ... then do what they told you ... ken...See Morebluesunflower
