Anyone here doing concrete counter tops?
Comments (35)A good friend of ours has done many concrete countertops and they look amazing. We seriously considered it for our remodel. The staining/etching is what turned us off. To be perfectly frank I'm a slob in the kitchen. A countertop that would be damaged by red wine or lemon left on it overnight is just not feasible. Instead we went with soapstone. If it can hold up to legions of teenage chemistry students I feel it can hold up to me. :D If you do decide to go with concrete have you seen the books by Fu-Tung Cheng? They're excellent. Soapstone can be a lot more affordable as a DIY project. The quarry we bought from has DIY kits for about $25/sq ft or you could make it even cheaper by using tiles. Soapstone seams incredibly well....See MoreAnyone have corian counter tops?
Comments (8)I know granite is the "in thing" right now but I love corian. I love how warm and tactile it feels under your hand. I never cared for how hard and shiny granite is. IMO it's personal choice, every counter will have it's own set of pros and cons and what it boils down to is iwhat you like. Someone who just doesn't like a material will have all kinds reasons for why it stinks but it's just personal preference. I find it hard to believe that off white corian stained, I had off white corian in the kitchen of my first house and I came home from europe to find 6 week old marinara sauce sitting on it and it came out with a little soft scrub and a green scrubbie....See MorePlease help choose Colors/Stain Gray Cabinet Butcher Block Counter top
Comments (6)I would love to see how it turned out. We're doing a very similar renovation. So far our walls are alabaster and we've only purchased lower cabinets. I painted them Mindful Gray (BM). We just purchased our counter tops yesterday and they are unfinished butcher block. So now I'm panicking on what stain to use on them (our floors are Allen + Roth Russet Oak Laminate). I don't want the floors & counter tops to be too matchy and I'm considering just oiling them without staining. So many decisions!...See MoreMy Brand New Quartz Countertop Stained
Comments (9)Joseph, so you are correct in making any statements, our cleaning products DO NOT contain any soap, nor do they contain any detergents, or surfactants. Actually they are all 100% natural, safe on all stone of any brand, type and finish. Plus are 100% biodegradable etc. They are made by industry professionals AKA Master stonemasons for the stone industry. How's your university studies going? or they did not let you back after your Hot for Teacher incident? lauramandy4 there is a couple of issues going on here, 1) Pink Tylenol has a food coloring in it and will cause the staining to the quartz 2) Cilantro or Coriander as it is also known as has a strong chlorophyll pigment in it and why you are getting this issue as well. Both can be easily solved by using out Stone Power Cleaner which is available on Amazon in the USA and Canada via FBA and Prime. See our video for Turmeric etc as these cause the same issue and extremely easy to remove with a spray and wipe of our Stone Power Cleaner' https://youtu.be/JwVYmANZLxY This issue with 409 and my assumption is you are refering to the multipurpose cleaner is that it does not remove stains, plus it is Caustic with a pH of around 11.5 which is higher than most drain & oven cleaners. NOTE: any other product from 409 WILL CAUSE damage to the quartz. The use of 409 products would void sections 4,7 and 11 of your Quartz Masters warranty. http://www.quartzmasters.com/care-and-maintenance/#residential...See MoreHU-377332303
