When you say old fashioned, how old? Our grands think that baby pictures of their parents are old.

Ask yourself, who you are saving them for? Tough question, I know.

I have found out that my kids, and grandkids, really appreciate a few photos of their ancestors where they can see their faces. Group shots of people in big coats and hats may not be of interest. And there is little interest in photos of Christmas trees all decorated.

That would be my question, too. If you miss the people so much you can't bear to look at the pics, who will be looking them? Will the pics mean as much to them? Or do you need to have them organized to even figure out which ones to save and pass on?

I think there are lots of home organizer types that probably will be looking for work now that not many strangers will be allowed into our homes, so maybe someone like that?

Great question about the pictures. They are mostly pictures from when I married in 1994 forward. The album making is mostly for my enjoyment at some point in the future. I know this sounds crazy, but the bad feelings about not having stayed on top of this task combined with seeing pictures of my mother, who told me to not let this happen back when I had my first kiddo, are too many to cope with. As my youngest would say, I have issues ;-)

Older family pictures are all nicely put away in albums, as are all my childhood pictures. My mother was very organized.

Well, just let her be right and don't feel bad about it :-) I'm thinking, though, it might be very difficult for someone not familiar with the people or the timelines and places to actually organize this. If you can, I would just give yourself permission to deal with it when you want to.

There are places that will scan photos for you, maybe organize. I looked into it but then decided to buy a scanner instead and tackle it myself. Not sure about the albums though. Worth looking in to. Most places are online, you ship your stuff and they scan and then return. Not worry free but most places state pretty clearly they are very careful with your stuff. Some places might scan for you and then you could notate the files as to what was what.
