Fort Worth spring swap April 18th, 2020 Forest Park
Comments (12)I plan to come this year and bring a new friend, my co-worker's mom. Sylvia, I have an abundance of manfreda that thrives in sunny, hot locations. I'll bring some for you. I also have some agave protoamericana pups that like the same conditions. I think that they top out at around 4X4. I have a nice patch of the comfrey that you shared with me some years back. Pretty blue flowers!...See More**** Spring 2020 East Tennessee Plant Swap ****
Comments (3)RedBird, everythings seems to be working properly on the website. What's your username on there? If you need me to reset your password, let me know. I'm still trying to decide how to handle the swap in light of the COVID problem. We might have a much smaller version with proper "social distancing" at my farm. I know the decision will have to be made pretty soon....See MoreHummingbird Spring Migration 2020
Comments (96)When my husband lured him out, he put the red feeder in a large ficus that spends winter indoors and had just been moved outside (because I can NOT completely get rid of the scale on it). The ficus is nestled in a shady corner by the garage door. Amazingly, although never having had a feeder anywhere near that space in the past, two males were fighting over it before nightfall. I think they really like having a feeder in a tree. They'll sit on the higher branches and then flit down to the feeder. My husband didn't know they were territorial and said the two hummingbirds were "dancing" around the feeder. HA! Next time my teenage boys start arguing I'm going to yell, "Ya'll stop dancing!" Either those two males were fighting over all feeders in the yard, or I have several hummingbirds right now. I did just see my first female at a feeder in an older location. Dicentra is blooming, forsythia is still in bloom, and I'm not too many days away from Columbine canadensis flowers opening....See MoreSpring : 2020 : new beginnings part 3
Comments (229)Thanks, Merlena!! From your lips to God's ears...come on blooms! :) Your Quietness has a quiet beauty...very restful. :) Kristine - I laughed when I read your comment about the danged dogs and the seeds. Dogs...we love them, but whoo boy! And too funny...your roses are "mice nuts" in the shadow of his new truck!! Love it! Oooooh!!! Your lavender roses are sooo pretty!!! I think that Charles is my favorite! Merlena - oh wowza!!! Your Poseiden bush is glorious!!! What a fabulous bush shot! And the flowers...love, love!!! Dilly - Oh!! Lucy is a sweet rose!!! She has a beautiful face and lovely little fingers!! Yes, it must be wonderful to have your husband home for this precious time. Lovely flowers!! Especially the irises! Hubby and I went to a UFA feed store and got 3 big bags of alfalfa pellets! The weird thing is that my Barbra Streisand is the only rose I had that had a good foot and a half of cane that was left alive and green after the GGDO. It has done nothing for 2 months!!! Nothing! So I flung a bunch of alfalfa pellets on (as well as on my other roses)...come on Babs...get going! I have a question about alfalfa pellets...it's okay, isn't it to put them on bareroot roses? The pellets aren't in contact with the roots. Thoughts? We had a glorious, warm day of 15C/59F!!!!! The sun was shining...the roses went outside after a few days of being left in the garage. Life is good!...See MoreKelley_GA8a
