Easy DIY Crown Moulding To Match Stained Wood Cabinets/Trim/Etc
Comments (10)Michele, for the closet, I had an old Frazee paint chip color wheel and selected the color Mythic Fire,7796N. If you are going to try this project, you should probably get a color wheel and find the best undertone match for the wood you want to match, or take a sample of the wood to the paint store to look at chips if you don't have a wheel. What matched for my stained cherry wood may not be the best match for your wood or stain color. Good luck!...See MoreHELP! Do I repaint the cabinets or do I paint the all doors and trim?
Comments (16)JudyG Designs what is a light warm grey that has the right undertones to minimize the heavy yellow in the antique white? My plan right now will be to keep the cabinets the antique because this is the 2nd time they've been painted (the first time the lady did a terrible job and I had to fire her and have her work removed) so I am worried about painting them a 3rd time. So I will paint the walls a light color that compliments the cabinets and gives them a whiter appearance. Paint the trim the antique to remove any stark white, paint the door a dark grey with the right warm undertones, the ceiling creamy white and next year we will replace the back splash to something simple that is either mix of white and cream or like a creamy herringbone. What do you think?...See MoreGoing all white paint...do I vary shade for walls and trim?
Comments (13)Doors are as window casings, baseboards and DOOR casings, and the sheen usually satin. The only exception that comes to mind? A wood door perhaps, or a door painted black. That's it. If you want trim same as wall color, you elevate the sheen. Of that trim. If the base skirts are hideous, and the rest of the trim is not hideous: Treat the base skirt as wall with same color and sheen, and change color AND sheen on ALL the rest of the trim, to include window casing, door casing and the door itself....See MoreStain colors- coordinate or match trim, cabinets, floor?
Comments (4)My house was built in 1988 so it is from the golden oak era. All my cabinets, doors, and trim were golden oak. My floors are not oak (they are ash) but they did have a golden color to them. The floors also had cherry accent in the dining area and around the great room. We refinished the floors and left them natural. We remodeled the kitchen 7 years ago and put in natural cherry cabinets. The cabinets have darkened a bit and have a warm reddish color to them. I do think you should have your floors lighter than your cabinets. We left all the golden oak trim and doors as was. So I have a "lot of stained wood" going on. I love the look of it and I do not mind an "entire house of stained wood, same color or not" as Anglophilia warns against. Here are some pictures of my kitchen and surrounding areas to help you visualize lots of stained wood: Good luck with your decision....See MoreRelated Professionals
