My grandbaby is here!
Comments (18)Celeste, so glad everything turned out okay after a scary start. The baby is adorable and know everyone in the family is thrilled to have a new member. Love his name, think the "classical" ones are the best. Looking forward to more baby pictures in the future, right alongside all the daylilies and others--LOL!! It will be a great combination--babies and flowers, can't beat them!! Very best wishes to your daughter, know she had it rough, but she came through and now she can enjoy her lovely son. Comments (8)I had my only grandchild every weekend until she started school and became involved in activities. I never hear from my daughter or grandchild. I asked why she doesn't come to my house any more (she's 8) and she replied, "She doesn't like the long drive" (30 minutes away) However, she can drive to her aunt's home (father's side of family) which is 1 hour away. I find this very strange, as we have always had a good relationship. I live alone and am the caregiver for my mother, so it is very difficult to get away, not knowing when they are home (both work in town). The father's mother has always been there raising the child from birth. They come and go daily for meals and or whatever else they need. We have always exchanged gifts at Christmas and I treat them both the same. This year, I didn't even get a thank you nor the usual gift card that has been given in the past. This might sound petty but I am telling you this to show how distant they have become. I'm not in their business and on the rear occasion when I do talk to my daughter about activities of my grandchild, the activity is on that day or has past. It appears the only communication is on Facebook and this is only when she wants something. It's like I'm on F/B so I must be OK. She's not involved with any family activities on our side of the family. It's just beyond me. I am considering just cutting her out of my life because it is so hurtful....am I wrong to do this....See MoreAre my grandbabies bonded to me?
Comments (2)Relax, they are so bonded to you. You are so special to them that you seem like the parent to them, not the grandparent. They see you more than their parents, so when dad shows up after being away, it's a surprise and a treat for them, same for mom coming home from work. They don't get excited when they see you because you are the most stable person in their lives and they trust that you will be there for them day after day. This will pay off in the coming years. Enjoy them, you are getting such unconditional love from them....See MoreMy grandbabies
Comments (2)This story makes me so furious that I can hardly stand it. My suggestion: Get an attorney ASAP. If you don't know how to find the right one (I wouldn't!), contact a victim's rights group. Sometimes these are run via the police. I know this because elder DS works as a volunteer in such a group with his local police force. If worse comes to worst you will probably find a pro bono attorney, though they're not always the best. Keep a written list of every possible thing you recall that has happened - abuse, fights, neglect, jail, the amount of time you spend with the children - and bring that with you. Write it all down. The sooner you do this, the better. I haven't had experience with such a situation, but I know from DS's previous experience working in a halfway house for children who needed to be immediately removed from their homes, that you do have a chance for guardianship. Those dear babies need you! Good luck!...See Morekatlan
