I think it's hard for a lot of us to post anything because it's mostly the same ol' same ol' with this pandemic and we are sick of talking and thinking about it. I'm between quilt projects and it's been hard to make myself decide on the next one. But I'm also busy trying to fill a big order of masks for my DIL and Granddaughter for school although it's up in the air when and how that will start. I've also just finished a 3-week journey into the world of sourdough which culminated in a little mini-contest between just me and a friend. I won. But it was close. She was the one who begged and nagged and pushed me into doing it because she wanted to and wanted someone to do it with. So I finally caved. Let me tell you, if you are working don't even consider it. It's like taking care of a baby. So now I have these 2 different starters and now I'll have to keep coming up with ways to use it since I invested so much time and flour getting them going. The bread is drop-dead delicious though. If you like sourdough. Hopefully when I get these masks done I'll come up with another quilt project, I have to have something to take my mind off of the worldly goings-on. BTW I am so sorry for all the sadness and hardship going on with some of you and will say a little prayer. Oh and we have such a deer problem here there's no way we could grow hostas. We have 4 does who have dropped fawns on our property this summer. We were eating our Sunday breakfast last weekend and here comes one of the does right up to the lanai in the back where I have canna lillies and terrestrial orchids and it stood there right in front of us and had it's breakfast. One pot of the cannas is completely eaten down to a nub.

I've seen for years but don't have a machine right now and I've hand sewn all my masks (but I didn't add wire because I didn't need it) Adding it in after the fact means cutting the fabric, at the nose location, and threading the wire through, anchoring it with hand stitching so it doesn't move and then sewing the openings closed. OR stitching/or fabric glueing the nose wire to the inside of the mask which may touch your skin unless you place a barrier fabric over the wire. Fabric glue is ok but less stable. OR using a fusible web product (that only comes by the yard) that is fusible on one side/fabric on the other to fuse the wire to the inside of the mask. OR using a fusible web tape (that comes in various inch widths) that is fusible on both sides, fuse the wire to the outside of the mask which requires a piece of fabric for the side that goes on your nose to protect your skin. OR.... (easiest) Have you considered looking on Etsy for Disney fabric masks with nose wire?

Thaks, Judi, yes sarcasm. If masks weren’t effective, medical folks wouldn’t wear them. I never see cloth masks anymore. All appear to be k95.. I just saw in our local paper that covid cases doubled here the last week in July. Which is a bit odd beccause the weather was idyllic and nearly every event and gathering has been outside.The local health department is again recommending masks.

No, Elmer, let me clarify. I was not talking about distance buying. I was talking about availability. Toilet paper is on the shelf. If you need a new appliance you are going to find that a hit or miss experience. You may be told that there will a wait and uncertainty if it will ever be available at all. The components of most appliances, most clothing and many other things are all dependent on foreign industry and that dreaded supply chain where the raw materials to produce any one component may come from one place in the world and be manufactured in another , before ending up in the place where the finished item is assembled and then is has to be shipped out to where it will be used in the world. In other words, it is a complex and highly convoluted journey from a raw material to a finished product in the showroom or on the rack at the department store or the shelf at Amazon. THAT is the supply chain that has failed. On the retail end of it ,all that we see is but the very tip of the tail, the gleaming new stove, the unworn garment, the brand new bluetooth speaker. Everything in that item, no matter what it is, has had it's origins in obscure places and from obscure sources that one can hardly even imagine. It is not all about the dance between the retailer and the consumer. There is much fancy footwork gone on way before that.
