More Eye Candy from June 09 Tour - Pic Heavy
Comments (10)"I have added Galaxy and Super Nova to my must have list!!" I don't recommend Super Nova, Jenna. The pic posted by Paul shows a nice plant, but Super Nova usually exhibits brown areas from spring desiccation burn. Zilis writes, "While it [Super Nova] does burn less than many in that class, some spring desiccation burn typically develops. Avoid exposure to direct sunlight in April and May to lessen the problem" (The Hostapedia, page 922) If you look at the leaf behind the name tag, you can see what may be spring desiccation burn on that plant. I personally have Super Nova and some others which suffer from this problem...I plan to phase them out of my gardens. I think you're better off with Dick Ward, Inniswood, On the Edge, Paradigm, Polar Moon, September Sun, all very nice hostas which are similar to Super Nova but don't have the burn problem....See MoreHome-A-Rama, Eye Candy Lots of photos
Comments (57)pamghatten, actually that was the Keeping room attached to the kitchen, not a formal DR, the formal DR is in the front of the home see the Link for floor plan. Bumblebeez, glad you found them. :) cyrus1, you're welcome. phoggie, you're welcome too, I am glad you got enjoyment from the show. I enjoy touring the homes, I will never have the money for houses of that size, but I gets lots of inspiration from them. Finz2left, sorry I can't help with the colors, I MIGHT go back to the home show after work on Friday..it depends on the weather (raining or not), if I go I will ask them what color of blue they used. Pattycakes, thank you, you make me blush!! I am getting ready to post some updates on my small remodel, I still have aways to go though, I have lots of details to do still :( Here is a link that might be useful: Link for pamghatten...See MoreMore Layering eye-candy
Comments (15)Jim, thanks for posting, as usual you have a treasure trove of pictures for us to enjoy. They are wonderful photos and it is such a touching story of their lives together. It is interesting to me that the room structure is relatively simple (basic box and rectangle shaped rooms). The crown moldings are stream lined and not over the top, The decor and interest (for me) comes from the art on the walls (love that the art is lighted, wonderful for mood setting), the beautiful layering of their collections, and the great wall colors used in the rooms to evoke cozyness and yet is still very sophisticated. I could totally live in those rooms....See MoreEye Candy Fun -- Retro Home Pin Board
Comments (4)Thanks for posting this! My neighborhood is from the 1930s and 1940s, and many of the details are so familiar in the drawings! I've been searching for old photos for design inspiration, and this is very helpful. We still have a lot of original baths and kitchens in the neighborhood. My hall bath, in fact, has the period tile (although we put in a different floor -- herringbone marble from another era -- I just don't like black and white check -- it is so hard to maintain. And vintage sheet flooring can be a lot to handle. Couple of things I noticed: wood floors are a rarity in the collection and subway tile is nowhere to be found. I see glass fronted cabinets and white kitchens, however. The LR in the link below, from 1936, could very well fit in today.
