I finally 'discovered' Amazon Prime

I've resisted this for years. I didn't order enough to care about a couple of bucks in shipping every month, less than Prime costs, And I don't watch enough TV to care about that part of it. And a lot of what I bought was free shipping if I didn't want the item overnight.

But if this pandemic kills anything, it's local stores. In the past few weeks, I've had trouble getting some common items. Either they aren't carried at Trader Joe's or Walgreen's, the only stores I have actually been into, or it is/isn't on the Peapod-service store where I get a weekly order. That process is such a crapshoot. You make your order and then it's like a totally random deal to see what you actually get.

(side note: Curbside pickup dates are 12 days out here, so we have two accounts and alternate weeks so we can have one grocery "shop" per week.)

So I have now taken to ordering my shampoo and some other things by Amazon and using Prime. No more searching store to store for what I want, and finding it out of stock half the time, like I did pre-pandemic.

Plus I've discovered the joy of finding items that aren't found in stores on the East coast that I used to get on the West coast, like a certain brand of grainy mustard that I love.

I feel it's shameful to bypass my local stores, but hey, what can you do??
