Please help me figure out furniture design for this weird triangle
Comments (2)Sorry, I studied your diagram to try to understand what you are asking and it made my eyes ache. I couldn't figure it out, partly because the scale is small, the legends evidently not in English, etc. What is the white space to the left of the orange triangle, what furniture is there, etc. Do you want the furniture to be for TV watchers? If so, maybe make alot of the seating rotating, at least on the hypotenuse of the triangle, since fixed seating with its back to that view probably wouldn't be too popular!...See MoreNeed help with this weird living room space!
Comments (2)I'd put my sofa in front of it on that wall, take down the shelf and a big piece of at over the stone--or a pair, and call it a day. As they y=used to say on Room by Room - it's the unusual Honestly, I think the sofa in front of pass-thru/opening is more of an issue IMO...See MoreDesign-challenged person needs help pulling open space together!!!
Comments (9)Sabrina Alfin Interiors - I like the idea of switching out the chairs and light. Getting rid of the table itself isn't an option right now. We purchased and redid a gorgeous craftsman style house in the PNW (the table fit in perfectly there) two years ago, and as soon as we were all settled in we had to relocate to Florida for work. Not too many PNW craftsman styled homes here! With all the expenses of the last few years, a new table isn't on top of the priority list, but new chairs and a chandelier are totally doable. Sammie J, decoenthusiaste, and oaktonmom...agree with you as to the bizarre lay out. As it is now, the dining room is the corner part of an L shaped layout - with a massive TV/great room on one side (not shown in the photos), and the informal seating area (by the kitchen) on the other side. Unfortunately, it isn't an option to flip the rooms. For some electrical code reason (the details are fuzzy), we can't add the type of lighting that we would want for the dining room if we were to swap the rooms. It has something to do with whatever the previous owners had done when they re-plumbed/rewired the house a few years ago. Oddly enough, this layout is very common and preferred in homes in our area....See MoreOpen living/kitchen space design help!
Comments (1)Welcome to the Kitchens Forum Spirit! We'd love to help, but we need more information. For example, we really need a fully-measured and labeled layout of the spaces under consideration (in you case, Kitchen, Laundry, Pantry). "Fully-measured" means the widths of each wall/window/door/doorway and the distances between each wall/window/door/doorway. Window/door/doorway measurements should include trim. Indicate where doors/doorways go. Then, please post a sketch of the entire floor so we can see how the Kitchen relates to the rest of the home and how traffic flows in, around, and through the Kitchen. Indicate where the family entrance (usually a garage entry) and guest entry (usually a front entry) are. The sketch doesn't have to be exactly to scale, but it should show room relationships and what all the rooms are. You have a good start with what you posted above, it just needs a few additional measurements so all spaces are labeled and, either on the same sketch or a separate, ensuring all rooms on the floor are fully represented. In addition, could you please tell us a bit about you and your family and how the space is to be used. For example, Do you have children (now or planned)? Are you an empty nester? Younger adults with no children planned? Do you entertain a lot? Formal? Informal? Is the Pantry the room below the Laundry/Utility room? (It's not identified) Other than the walls for the Laundry/Utility and Pantry, can anything else be changed? Windows, doors/doorways, etc.? I don't see a Dining Room on your drawing, is there one somewhere or does this Kitchen have to include a Dining Room? We're not being nosy, this information is useful in designing a Kitchen for you, specifically. The Layout FAQ discusses all of this: Layout Help FAQ: https://www.houzz.com/discussions/5500789/faq-how-do-i-ask-for-layout-help-what-information-should-i-include Here's a sample of a fully-measured and labeled layout:...See MoreBrooke BearRun
