Yet another chandey question (pics)
Comments (18)You should arrange things the way you prefer, but from the pix it appears that the glass cabinet is not any deeper than the sideboard piece, at least judging in relation to the chairs sitting by each of them. I just noticed, in your additional pix, that the wainscot stops just past the one window - is that supposed to be the end of the dining room, where you will change wall colors? If that is the case, I would seriously look at adding a strip of decorative moulding that runs floor to ceiling to the right of that last wainscot panel, to create a clear divide. And then, all the more reason that the piano would be perfect to the right of that, in that large wall space. It would extend your living room, and if you moved the chairs to the window, and added another chair in that corner where the one upholstered chair currently sits, you would make that middle 'no man's land' feel like a part of the living room. In fact, I am thinking that you could put the curio above the piano there. You might even be able to use the two host chairs for the dining set in the piano area to create more useful seating for the LR when you entertain. I have one other thought for you. You might consider turning the DR table to run the other way in the space, and then put the glass cabinet on the wall by the kitchen entry, where the mirror is now. Whatever you decide, please share pix when you are done! It is fun to see the finished product....See MoreYet another BS question! PICS!
Comments (9)Well, it's not wood. It actually sandstone-Marcella Ozark Mountain Gold. It is from a local quarry here in NE AR. There was a very active discussion about the pros/cons of using this several months ago(Think it fell off already). We absolutely love the look and (I) will just have to be diligent. This sample is tame looking. My slab in front of the fireplace was set yesterday. BEAUTIFUL! I need to go out and take a pic to post....See More(groan) Yet another backsplash question... any photoshop experts?
Comments (26)Of these two options, I like the lighter one too BUT, BUT, BUT and you didn't ask for this, I think long narrow glass tiles might be too trendy for your kitchen. Are you totally opposed to 3x6 matte or crackle tile that so many people are doing (yes, I know, also trendy but they are a better match for a more traditional cabinet style and color.) Or doing something with a unique shape but all one color - maybe grey? As the photoshop renders show, this backsplash will be very, very busy. All this IMHO. I don't want to hurt feelings. Perhaps I am just being too influenced by a designer's color blog that I have be devouring lately. She posted about this exact thing (linked below) and also a great one about the undertones of beige - which are either yellow, pink or green - that is what Marcolo was getting at, not just are the related beiges. http://colourmehappyblog.blogspot.com/2009/02/what-everyone-should-know-about-beige.html (I might add, the photo used in this blog post is none other than GW's very own Beekeeperswife's kitchen.) Comments (4)They have some amazing tiles. Truly creative, but the website is a pain to navigate. I love seeing something different, and they have a lot of that ;)...See MoreRelated Professionals
