Comments (4)That is one fantastic germination rate! Congratulations! You could have a plant sale if you're up to it or donate them to a nice gardening group who has them every year like, for instance, our horticultural society. I'd have a plant sale if I had the energy for it, then give the leftovers away. You might be surprised what people go for. Tiffy had a long thread about her plant sale, will see if I can find the link. I did and put it in my msg here. People beg for perennials (and other gardening stuff) on our local freecycle group, and I'd do a lot more with it but I wouldn't give too much to any one person plus the biggest thing is the flurry of people wanting what I have offered, then arranging time slots to pick them up, just too much for me, just makes me too nervous until it's settled. A couple took advantage of me, but most have been great, especially Rhonda. I tried to go down my emails in the order in which I receive them, but if I ever do that again, I might change my conditions a little. Some people offer things that I think would have some commercial value, and I wonder why they just give them away. Some of it I understand, too much hassle selling it and they need rid of it fast. Plus others (I lurk even when I'm not involved with my own deals) ask for some incredibly expensive-sounding things, then I wonder if they sell them even though they're not supposed to. Who would know? I'm facing similar to you with nowhere near that germination rate, almost hope some I don't care that much about don't. Just do especially want a fairly good return on certain special ones. Think my top 10 at least some have sprouted except I did want those ruds because they are quite different, and I harvested them last fall B4 frost plus I swapped them with one or two here and don't want them to be disappointed. Did you have fresh seeds? Just remember, if people get something free, they may let them die, not all are like that but something to think about. Here is a link that might be useful: Did my plant sale today - Tiffy - June 2009, lots of photos...See MoreAm I the only person who doesn't like granite??
Comments (74)After this was posted the first time I got to thinking that maybe I should have picked something else for my counters. (I'm a marketing grad and still the biggest second guesser of all my buying decisions). My mom is redoing her kitchen and I was taking her around to a variety of places one of which was our counter place. They sell granite, marble and silestone products. I was surprised when my mom said she wanted to look at the silestone products and when I asked why (as I'm drooling over the granite) she said she found the granite too busy. I was shocked> We went and looked at the silestone which they had in slabs and she fell in love with the coolness and the calmness of the stone. I, on the other found them to be cold and boring. She walked through the silestone aisles and I went back to the granite aisles and we were both happy. That's why there are choices out there - none are right or wrong just what is right for each of us. This visit confirmed that the granite was right for us....See MoreAm I the only one who can't sleep? Hope you don't mind me Venting
Comments (16)ilene-84, Happy Birthday to your Dad! Is he a WW II vet? I hope all the medical issues are behind you and your family now. Spring is around the corner and it's such a great time of year. And, I'm sure when your kitchen is all done, it will be great simply because it has been a labor of love. It's good to know I am not the only one sleeping terribly. I wake up every day with a terrible headache and neck pain. I also wake up in the middle of the night repeatedly adding up cabinet sizes, trying to make a list of events of what should come next, what goes and doesn't go, if I do this then I have to do that and the infamous DID I MAKE A MISTAKE and what are my options now if I decide to change the layout. I started keeping a pen and paper on the night table to be able to jot down the ideas and make notes. However, one kitty is a pen thief, the other is a paper tearer. So when I get up to find the pen, big doggie has to come over and inquire as to what I am doing but more so to make sure he is not missing out on a food tidbit. Then DH starts in, what's wrong, is everything okay . . . it's so pitiful I have to laugh because I would cry. Now I try to get back into bed and find out that another kitty has stolen my warm spot and I just can't bear to move them so to the couch for me where I wonder, I just left that bed with all of them so how did we fit on there before! At least I'm off the kitchen biz. So much for the couch idea. There is usually the shy rescue cat there who so prefers DH to me. Then if I manage to lay down, it's impossible to get my back comfortable but then I finally fall asleep out of sheer exhaustion and then there is DH waking me, come back to bed, you know the couch is no good for your back. Argh . . just leave me be! This is a daily routine for us. I almost want to quit my day job and get a night job just so I don't have to go to sleep. I am sure also that the massive amounts of junk food I am eating is not helping the situation either. I am actually craving veggies so I don't know what that says about the diet. But in the end I will have a nice enough kitchen that I have built out of a labor of love. I am so looking forward to cooking again for us so hang in there! Christine, thanks for sharing your perspective on things. I must say you must be one strong resilient woman! You go girl....See MoreI am having so muxh trouble starting a Passion flower from seed. help
Comments (54)Hi Tim No we don't have restrictions, I receive seeds from all over, some even write wooden toy on the packaging for bulbs I receive. I would be happy to receive seeds from someone who actually grows them because many seeds bought on eBay don't germinate. Regards Vici...See Moremxk3 z5b_MI
