Does anyone have a picture of the Bosch Integra refrigerator?
Comments (6)Hi, I can appreciate your refrigerator "dilema" - it is one I share - with the added concern of needing to be solar power compatable! I'm a kitchen designer so I have a bit of awareness on a couple of your questions. The Bosch and Thermador units are manufactured under the same roof so the Freedom unit provides a reasonable footprint. Take a look at the Viking designer series french door unit. (made by Kitchenaide) Consider the Kitchenaide 36" single door unit and Sub Zero 650. Our current thinking is a Bosch 30" all fridge column with a Summit 2 drawer under counter freezer unit. Appears to be the most energy efficient of anything except a Sunfrost and has an estimated combined capacity of 21 c. ft. Cabinet details will make a huge difference with the success of a built-in 'look'. The high end appliance manufacturers do a good job with integrating their systems. Note the hinges and door swing requirements....See MoreDoes anyone have a single dishdrawer dish washer?
Comments (8)It will depend on how you cook and size of your dishware. It is really best to take a load of your dishes to an appliance store and try it out. We have the double, but after meals with just two of us (about half our meals) will typically only use the top. For larger plates and skillets, you will need to get the Tall dishdrawer (same size as the top of our double). Our largest plates and skillets do not fit in the bottom. Our dishes, glassware, and silverware for two, a small-med pot and one or two small-med skillets and a small mixing bowl will easily fit in one Tall dishdrawer. Fitting more than one large pot or an extra large skillet can be done, but it is an inefficient use of space (skillets fit poorly in the tines, so angle in and limit space for plates; pots block water so you can't use the flip-out shelves above them). Sometimes we'll hand wash one skillet or large pot that wouldn't fit in the one with the rest of the stuff rather than start filling the bottom unit. If your cooking process uses multiple pots, multiple mixing bowls, a 2 or 4 cup measure, food process parts, etc, you will likely not be able to fit them all in one. It's the prepware that will get you; regular eating dishware loads small, that won't limit you. I do find the dishdrawers fussy about proper loading in order to get clean properly since the water is bottom up only....See MoreDoes anyone have either this GE or KitchenAid CD refrigerator?
Comments (18)There is a knocking now and then but since our previous fridge, a 19+ year old Kenmore badged Whirlpool, did the same, much worse and more often, I haven't given it much thought. It was louder before we placed the fridge cabinet back in place but now it doesn't even register with me unless I consciously make an effort to hear it make that sound. Since we're still within the 1st year of ownership, I should call for a service call and see what they have to say about it, just for the heck of it. We looked at the GE model, as well as many others including a Whirlpool since we'd had such good luck with our previous fridge (not one service call in 19+ years). Unfortunately, Whirlpool didn't offer a CD version. KA is now owned by Whirlpool (and Amana and a bunch of others) so we opted to stick with that appliance arm and not go with GE. According to Consumer Reports, GE does really well with ovens and cooktops but their rep slips down the list with fridges. But honestly, I felt as though we could have chosen our fridge with a dart throw since I could find bad reports on any fridge I researched. One other reason for our choice is that, according to my research, the KA is made in the US while the GE is made in Mexico. Not sure if this is still true. I couldn't find out where parts came from - both could come from overseas. If all else is comparable, we're trying to make an effort to choose appliances made, at least in part, in the US....See MoreAnyone out there still rinse your dishes?
Comments (39)I had a small dinner party last night and I just stuck the dishes right in the dishwasher, I barely even scrapped. Someone tried to rinse a plate and I stopped him and told him no rinsing needed. I did a quick rinse and hold and after everyone left I ran the dishwasher. This morning I unloaded the dishwasher and only one bowl has a tiny spot that didn't come clean. Everything else was perfectly clean. And this is with a 15 year old machine. There's enough to do around here, why do more work that isn't necessary?...See MoreIdaClaire
