little things you do....
Comments (14)A lot of people tap on the top of cans, theory being it releases pressure and won't spray all over. I've shaken many a can for people, and seems to be the same results for tappers and non-tappers. My mother had a couple quirks. The road into our cabin was a dirt trail for many years before a new road was put in. When it would get wet, it'd get slippery, there'd be ruts and it's through the woods so not many options to go a different path - just wind through those trees and some were close and driving a big old DeSoto, the squeezes could be tight. When we'd be in the car and start spinning the wheels or something she'd start rocking back and forth to give a little oomph to the car I suppose. Plus the "keep your tongue straight in your mouth" going through those trees. I probably do things people think are strange but can't think of anything that's out of the ordinary....See MoreHow Much Do the 'Little' Things Bug You?
Comments (21)I don't think that the things you have described are such "little" things. The grout shouldn't be in the crack. It should be caulk. It's totally unacceptable that the supplier would even send a warped cabinet. If the trim wasn't done properly it needs to be fixed. For me, the only thing that works when I hire someone is to write everything down in geat detail and make sure that both parties have signed it. Then I stay on top of the suppliers and in the nicest possible way, refuse to accept anything that is not up to standard. There is always a 10% holdback to ensure that things get finished as they should. No reputable contractor is going to have a problem with that, No fly-by-night is going to agree to it. Standard varies greatly depending on how much I am paying for something. If I am buying an item that sells at the high end of the price range for that type of thing - it had best be perfect, but if I am "getting a deal" I don't expect to receive any service or support and don't expect to get first quality merchandise. In some areas, it is not wise to shop for deals. In others, it is a waste of money to buy the "best". If I was in your position I would start gently haraassing the supplier of the cabinet and the painter until I got satisfaction. Send letters, call, don't threaten, just complain pleasantly. It might take a year or so but sooner or later they WILL cave....See MoreLittle things that bug you, that really shouldn't?
Comments (125)Here's a little thing that bugs me. I see the same posters on the Freecycle groups, only asking for things, never offering any items to give away. The only posts they make, are for wanting items. I hate the greed of it all. Oh, and the amount of cats and kittens being given away on Kijiji. The "Free" section is filled with that. Between those posts and people advertising that they'll pick up your scrap metal immediately, there's very little else there. The excuses are pathetic for giving away the cats.....new baby, and no time for the cat. Bought a house, no room. Huh??? A cat doesn't need babysitting or taken for walks, or played with in the back yard. What do you mean you have no time for it? This just burns me. Pets are not disposable items that you throw away when bored. This post was edited by jasdip on Mon, Oct 6, 14 at 9:11...See MoreWhat would you do with this little slip of a thing?
Comments (9)I would plant it - it is nice and full for a newbie. Mine is still in its pot and for whatever reason the leaves are smaller this year. I am looking for a good spot for it in one of my beds at the moment. Manyhosta, yours is gorgeous!!! Love the softer colour. ConnieMae, I haven't looked at the Library photos or googled but I was surprised to see the corrugation as in your photo! Equally stunning and those leaves look huge! Love this hosta! Glad I have one!...See More
