Lighting living room Design Dilemma

What lights should I put in my bonus room with 8ft ceiling.

Hi! I hope everyone is safe and healthy! Taking advantage of this time to do some home improvement tasks and need advice. On my second floor bonus room I have 7 of these outdated lights. My first floor as 9ft ceilings but 2nd is 8ft so want something that does not stick out much as I dont think there is enough space. I found these LED lights and not sure if should just do in white so very minimalistic or nickel where it would add some style. If white I think nobody would notice them, not sure if that should be the goal? LED should last 10 years, but then may have to swap out all if one goes bad at some point, so can add up with 7. But I think I am ok with that, options may be different 10 years from now. I put a lot of pictures but excuse the mess, painting the whole bonus room. There is one light over the step that I think I will do a nicer light since there is space for it there. My knobs are brass but that's next on my list. Either black or nickel knobs. What do you think is best for this room?

The ones you are thinking about look good and you should lower you energy bills with LED. I think the room will look better.

Thought I would update the thread I started when I was trying to figure out what type of light to get for above the island with an 8 foot ceiling. Well here are some pics. We chose a pendant light we found (Juno onyx) at Design Expo. With our GC's help we got a flat ceiling mount/transformer (the one at the store was more conical) We wanted something with a low profile, because of the 8 ft ceiling. We love it. I was asking recently about a hood and small pendants (older thread). My solution involves the symmetry of two small pendants working with the hood. I like high-hats for their unobtrusive lighting, but my personal taste is to have something decorative providing some light and some style at the same time. I say yes, do a pendant. It's hard to visualize your space, but from the description I'm thinking a long bar light over the peninsula, and the hood over the island.

@houssan do you think white would be better than brushed nickel? Is it best to make it so you dont even look at the ceiling?

With so many lights, I would opt for white to avoid the possibility of a polka dot effect.

Good point Connie! I definitely do not want polka dot effect. I have no idea why they put so many, its excessive.

You might consider switching to actual recessed (can) lights, if there is enough space above your ceiling -- then you can use LED bulbs and replace just the bulbs when needed.
