We are trying to find a light fixture for a 6ft by 3ft island. I like the Tech Lighting pendants but I'm worried that my 8ft ceiling will make them look strange. If I hang my light(s) about 36 inches above the counter height island, it only leaves 24 inches. After the transformer, support arms and track, the cord length will be relatively short. (I hope that makes sense.)

Any suggestions and/or pics for lights? (It doesn't have to be pendants)

FYI - The perimeter cabinets are Fieldstone (white w/ brown glaze), the island is cherry and the countertop (which goes in Monday) looks like Venetian Gold. The fabricator calls it Venice Gold Supreme. The hardware I selected is oil rubbed bronze.
