Comments (15)I got the story on why he had been using bad gas in it. They bought some gas cans and filled them up in late 1999 for 'Y2K', and of course nothing happened. So, instead of using the gas in the car, they just left it sitting there. This is the gas he was using in the mower which explains the severe carboning and awful running. Now we're trying to find a way to get rid of 20 gallons of eight year old gas. This is the worst example of using bad gas I have ever heard of. When I took the old plug out, small chunks of carbon fell out of the head. She will be using my 4-cycle mix in fresh gas from now on, which over time will clean it up....See MoreBlossom Set Spray-- Snake oil?
Comments (4)If you read the FAQ here at GW,linked to below, you'll see that indeed as Lindalana just said, only to be used in cold weather. That means in areas where the temps are too low toallow for normal pollination such as the PNW/ There are many different formulations of Blossom Set, and different hormones are used. And as said in the FAQ and I'll add a few words of my own, since hormone mediated fruit set is abnormal, fruits can me misformed and also the fruits can lack seeds. No different really, from parthenocarpic varieties, many of which were bred by Dr. Jim Baggett in Oregon, which also allow for abnormal fruit set with the same problems. If temps are OK for normal pollination and fruit set, and pollen is not clumped and there's been no sustained high heat or humidity, then look elsewhere for the reason for the blossom drop, also discussed in the link below. Comments (5)I recall when my long-term neighbor was diagnosed with cancer about 20 years ago. Shortly thereafter, a book came out with the title something like "Sharks Don't Get Cancer", which was featured on a Sunday night "60 Minute" segment. A few days later I made it a point to walk past three local health food stores, and ALL had big banners announcing that they offered products containing some substance from sharks. My neighbor bought the book & product on this basis. Unfortunately, his cancer progressed, and he died a year or two later at age 53....See MoreSelecting Windows for a New Custom Home Causes Insanity
Comments (10)I am not sure I would say the Marvin Ultimates have the least amount of complaints unless you were to evaluate that data against the number of times that window is used. Marvin builds a fantastic window, the but Ultimate, much like all of the premium wood options, gets used few and far between and probably by a more skilled builder or remodeler. As such, I am willing to bet that has some impact on the amount of complaints. If you contrast that to Andersen where they are very common place at Home Depot, Lowes, and most lumber yards, they get used more. Now...is the Marvin a nicer window...yes. I just wanted to point out this detail for consideration about your observed data. If you haven't looked at the Marvin Integrity, it is probably worth consideration along side the Andersen 400 and should be a bit cheaper as well and is usually a decent bit less than the Ultimate. Stay organized and take notes...you will make it through....See Morelucillle
