What is the first decision to make when freshening up this living room
Comments (57)When I see your rooms I think of the old Laura Ashley or Ralph Lauren decorated rooms.. the worn leather suitcase under the table, the little decorative frames all over, items under different styled tables, the heavy drapes,... And I must agree with d_gw... your room will never look fresh while it is filled with so many things. I wonder if you took all the brick-a-brack out for a while. Bring all the tiny decorative pieces, items on/under the tables and put them in the garage and just remove them while you imagine your space. Pair down to almost nothing. For me, I would update to new sleek lamps and repaint the walls. Sometimes when you repaint a room you have to take items out of that room to protect them. This is when you get to see the space without all the stuff. You get to rethink the shelves or space and refresh. After you paint and you rethink the tables and space keep in mind that a clean look focuses on 1 and at most 3 different colors. Keep the green sofa so use a few items in the same green color, the brown everywhere is a color so chose a 3rd color to go with the green and the brown. Maybe white? Love that gorgeous green sofa!...See Moreliving room to watch TV and looking nice when not watching tv
Comments (17)Can you take a picture from the sliders to the wall across and plant wall towards dining? I think you should nail down the layout first. I agree with above, the first and last are too bulky and don't go in a livingroom. You have a lot of brown already, but the middle could work with a light rug, and lighter side chair/tables. The pros here can really help with layout so you don't cover windows and doors with furniture. From what I see now, the tv can go on wall with the plant with sofa facing... You have a pretty space to work with!...See More12x24 Living room layout with minimal wall space
Comments (13)My initial thoughts were the wasted space at either end, awkward location of couch and need to move tv. Don't throw the baby out with the bathwater; you just need a few new pieces and a new layout. Suggest going on line and use a free room planner, adding in dimensions, structural components and play around with furniture placement. My ideas to try: - Add a console or your trunks, centred under large windows. Add two mid size chairs on either end. These can be moved into conversation area when needed. - place bar cart where dog bed is and bed can maybe go in front of fireplace - Place couch perpendicular to bookcase and if space between it and console is too tight, move into room a bit more. Only add a floor lamp vs table and you may need a larger rug, to ground the whole seating area. Wait until it’s set up to decide. - I’d place your white chair on an angle near other bookcase and add a low white unit (to comp bookcases) with storage on wall with small windows and place tv there - where couch was, add two comfy but not overly big occasional chairs. They will not be as bulky and will provide more room both physically and visually. You will now have seating for 8 Then add some new accessories/large art over fireplace and consider painting brick to match bookcases....See MorePlease help me choose rug sizes for Dining Room/Living Room space
Comments (29)Sorry, not sure why the picture didn't post. Here it is again. RL, I like the round pendant and the pleated one in your first set of suggestions. Is that a Nelson bubble pendant? Also, I should have given a few dimensional details. The table is 36" wide at the ends, 40" wide in the center. Ceiling height is 92"....See Morejmm1837
