Comments (23)molinuex, I was on line searching some information and accidentally come back to this post. Wow, what a beautiful picture for SA. Actually, I have one SA already, but it's grafted on Dr.Huey. So I am thinking about getting an own root and hopely I can keep it longer this time. It sure is a winner compared to Eglantyne . When I look out of my window now, I can see my 3' high SA blooms like crazy (the flowers are smaller in summer though) and only has BS here and there. On the other hand, the giant 6' Egalantyne is covered with BS and has two or three tiny flower buds. Even, their are both under the guard the Bayer 3 in 1. Every time, when I walk pass Eglantyne, I just can hear he (or she) crying for a "spread"....See MoreAnyone grows Michdia?
Comments (45)Its actually called Michelia Champaka sometimes spelled Cempaka. It is origianlly from India. I first came apon the flowers in Bali Indonesia. They are extremely fragrant and the tree is comonly known as the Chanel No5 tree, as it is the flower the colounge is made from. One of two of the flowers in a dish will fragant the entire room. It is a compelling scent. I personally have grown 5 trees here in the Hollywood Hills, and I took out the three yellow flower trees because they never bloomed although they reached massive heights. My "Alba" trees bloom almost all year round now that I have planted them in the ground last year. Everything I've read about these plants suggest that they don't like water, but I have found that to be very incorrect. - what they don't like is "wet feet". Dig the hole, put lots of gravel in the bottome and water it on a regular basis. I have mine in direct sun. Best of luck!...See MoreThe Hanson Show
Comments (38)Curts intros hold their value because he can never seem to produce enough plants to fill all the orders he gets each year. I was out there a number of times last summer because I really do live close, and he was really upset that he had too many orders, and not enough plants to fill them. Curt really has some nice stuff coming in the future. The third seedling is really strange, it almost looks like a tulip, that is as open as it gets. I would have been out there every week during the bloom but I had taken my van in for repairs on the 10th of May, and still did not get it back until mid July. The reason Ginny doesn't look happy in that photo is my van had been at a srepair shop here in Maple Heights, and the owner had it towed out past Curts to his other shop, and we had just been there asking why it was out there, and when it was going to be done. That was on July 2nd. To make a long story short, I had to have it towed back here to someone else, and it cost me over $800.00 to have it fixed and some of that cost was to repair work the other guy had done. I basically got sick of driving my wife to and from work....See MoreHanson Show 2009
Comments (21)I love them all! ANSEL ADAMS, COGNIZANT DISSONANT, FREUDIAN SLIP, ESCALTING DICHOTOMIES, EXQUISITELY SUBVERSIVE, EARTH MUSIC,COBRASKIN NECKTIE, & BLACK FALCON RITUAL, I'm adding to my wish list which was long enough already. Obviously I love Hansons, why don't I have more already? I think I'm like Rita, I had checked the listings for bud counts & thought maybe they weren't that great. Although the few Hansen's I have are great. The only one I have in this alphabet is Bela Lugosi...See Moresignet_gw(6b)
