One of the things I had noticed in the descriptions on the website (when there still was one) was that no budcounts were ever listed. That was one of the reasons I never bought any Hansons although I have seen plenty that I like.

Chris, is there anything in paticular that stands out to you about CONCRETE BLOND compaired to many other yellows? I do love that jump in your face color!

Chris, you have some really beautiful blooms there. I'm not sure if there is just one that's a favorite. Concrete Blond is an eye-opener. I love Exquisitely Subversive so much I bought it, and Cognizant Dissonant is a winner too.

Chris - They are all beauties, but the three I like best are the three I have: Cognizant Dissonant, Freudian Slip and Exquisitely Subversive. My Cognizant Dissonant has never looked as dark as yours. It's usually a light lavender. I'll add some pics later. I added two Hansons this year, but they didn't bloom yet. They are Stealth Bomber and Integrated Logistics. Chris, do you have any bud count info for Rita. She really needs to add a Hanson or two to her garden.

Rita - Don't worry about low bud counts on the Hansons. He doesn't introduce anythng that doesn't have good branching. I have about 15 of Curt's, and they all had 4-way branching and at least 16-18 buds - and that's recovering from a 3-year drought. Before the drought, bud counts on them were in the 20s-30s. In your area, they would probably be higher.

Thanks for showing the great collection of Curt Hanson cultivars. ESCALATING DICHOTOMIES is my favorite of those you posted. I don't have nearly as many of his as some of you Northern folks do, but have a few - most are older. One thing that has impressed me about Curt's cultivars is that I have seen them growing well not only in Northern gardens, but also in Texas and Florida. That was a shock!

Floota, yours is the only photo I've seen of ELMORE JAMES that shows such a good watermark, and it's not listed as having one. I might need to add that one now that I've seen your photo.

Rita, I don't have a bud count on CONCRETE BLOND, but I do remember the branching is excellent and it's been blooming for a long time, with plenth of buds left. It sometimes has some sculpting in the throat which is an added bonus.

We had such a long dry spell this year that many didn't bloom, including several new ones in the past two years.

I noticed the slight amount of sculpting on CONCRETE BLOND in your picture and while that is okay, any more and it would be in my not this column. I guess I am in the minority but I found that I absolutely hate that look.

Thanks to everyone that reassured me on the budcounts for Hansons. I had always heard that most of them were hardy plants great for northern gardens but I didn't know anything about what the budcounts might be.

One I remember from Curts old website is DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES. I just thought it was so pretty. No one seems to have that one. At least I haven't seen it mentioned.

I haven't seen a photo of DH in anyone's garden, just the one from the catalog. I do remember thinking it was one I would eventually need to get.

Great show everyone. Thanks for sharing your photos and what some of these will look like (possibly) in my garden.
The only one I do have of his is SPIRITUAL CORRIDOR and that one is still blooming here but winding down to just a few buds left.

Since his website is down, I think I'll just email him for a listing of his lates. I won't see his garden up close so will rely on all of you for your experiences and keep reading the forum here.
