Elastic wearing out on socks: White vs. Black
Comments (4)Hehe, Good questions (that I realized I hadn't clarified). However, they are exactly the same brand of sock (and it happens accross multiple brands (i.e. the black of brand "a" always wears out before the white, and the same is true even with brand "b")). I machine dry both, and there is nothing consistently different between settings. Generally it's always high heat, auto dry, with a fabric softening sheet about 1 in 3 times. (occassionaly i will do med heat or something like that, but not too often) It's a far shot trying to find out why, but thanks for any help!...See More??about elastic!!
Comments (8)Welcome to my world!!! I have that problem all the time.I have big legs, and always have had them, and it seems like today they make the socks tighter and tighter.Like you i also tried mens. They were too tight as well.I've got an overflowing drawer full of socks that i need to g thru and get rid of because of this problem. The only ones i found that i can wear with no problem are the guys white tube socks.I don't always like to wear white,as i usually try to match my socks to my pants. Good luck. Comments (3)Only other thing I can think of is to make decorative triangles out of a coordinating knit and sew them into the side seams...wide end in the waist band and tapering to nothing in the hip....esp since they are exercise gear, you could add that decoration. Or make it out of a matching fabric and wear longer tops so the seams aren't noticeable....See MoreDaily washing temps from 120F to 115 to 105!!
Comments (28)As a caregiver, I have organic soils to deal with, so prewash comes in handy. I'll often do a cold prewash with no detergent, to prevent setting the stains due to high temps. even though I have the LiGi set for a cold intake, I'm afraid it heats so quickly (to approx. 50c in 10 or so minutes) to work on cooler water stains. That and I want to flush the soil before the main wash. As larsi mentioned, I'm washing at lower temps now that I know what temps I'm washing things in. Darks clothes i.e. Polos, t's, trousers are usually 35c. Jeans and sturdy cottons at 40c. Light polos, t's and khaki's at 40. Sturdy light cottons at 50c. Dark/light towels at 50c and sheets 50-60c. Whites get at least a 75c wash, I haven't had any wear issues at this temp, even elastic and microfibres. Delicate items are washed at 30c or below. As suburbanmd stated, I like the control of centigrade temp settings. I'm finding that I'm using way less detergent than ever before, this is my 4th fl set, so I'm used to less soap. I think this is a big reason my clothes are showing less wear these days....See MoreAnnegriet
