Entryway design help please!
Comments (40)Julie--thank you so much for the ideas! Great name btw--lol. I really like the idea of painting the inside of the front door black...would match the stair rail. Where are the step runners from? I like the patterns! Do you think the stair carpet pads and the hallway runner should match or complement each other...matching would be easier for me. I found a light from Bellacor that I think I like for the hallway and would complement the ones we have in the kitchen (the darlana mini lantern). What do you think? http://www.bellacor.com/productdetail/minka-lavery-3296-613-audreys-point-polished-nickel-four-light-semi-flush-mount-1742532.htm Thank you! Julie...See MoreEntryway design help
Comments (14)Tthe bed along the house should be zero pavers high or the house will have increased rot. Plant at ground level. Choose plants that have the height you want. There are plenty of attractive shrubs that won’t be too large for your use and won’t grow into a green wall that requires pruning. Be sure to leave enough space between the house and the ultimate size of the plants so the plants never touch the building so that it can dry out. I would flare the path as in Yardvaark’s drawing upthread and also run it alongside the drive out to the public walkway or street. Then plant the entire front bed that remains. I don’t find the initial large bare space appealing. It can be planted with a spreading evergreen groundcover, or if you enjoy gardening, with flowering plants. Try adding a second photo that shows what is to the left of this photo above. Gardens exist in context of their surroundings, and we can only see a portion of yours, so It is difficult to make useful suggestions or sketches. For instance, we don know if the house continues for 20’ to the left or if you have a lawn or whether there are other plantings or how far away the street is, etc....See MoreEntryway Wall Design Help!
Comments (1)This is the only wall I see large enough to support a table and mirror. I'd recommend a Demilune table for this small area. The issue will be selecting something that isn't too wide for the wall area....See MoreFront entry design help
Comments (5)I like the idea of removing the left side steps. But I would put a railing there. I would also add a railing along the steps. Don't plant tall plants. They will hide the windows. The current ones need to be prune to reduce their size. I would make it an interesting garden. Maybe add a water feature or sculpture....See MoreIdaClaire
