Practicality of matte black bathroom fixtures

I love the look of the Kohler Purist matte black fixtures and am seriously considering them for my bathroom remodel (and yes, I know they are a trend and that trend may not last!). I'm wondering if they will be constantly covered in dried water/soap spots. Does anyone have experience with these fixtures and how they work in the real world? Thanks!

Anne, I bought Kohler matte black fixtures and love them. They are in NO way hard to clean. land they are the best feature of my (very small) bathroom!

I should have mentioned - no, I do not have hard water. Have city water.

To msrmom: I am attaching my other bathroom that is not quite 100% complete yet. Still have art to go.. But in this one we went with Brushed Nickel right down to the toilet flush handle. My vanity lights and the hanging light are white linen. both with brushed nickel. I feel like I am really stuck now on the black and white bathroom. I was reading that the gold could go out of style and the black, but I have had the hole cut into the counter so it's too late. I absolutely love the brushed nickel. It is a beautiful colour. What I could do is change the hardware to brushed nickel, toilet flusher and then maybe some pictures like the attached. This is not my favourite for art, but it got me thinking about silver type finish.

We have really hard water. We have chrome in 1 bathroom and brushed nickel in 2 baths and the kitchen. The chrome looks water spotted and has been a disappointment from that standpoint. The brushed nickel NEVER shows water spots. Obviously, I'm sure they are present as well, but they absolutely don't show. I'm seriously not interested in wiping down all my fixtures everytime they are used. Keeping up with life is hard enough without adding that to the list of chores.

I personally think black and chrome look good together. Like a tuxedo with shiny silver cuff links. So maybe wait until you get the other stuff installed and then hold the chrome parts up, or tape them where they are going to go, and see if you think it looks good enough for you to be happy.

Do you mean black things in general or black bathroom fixtures? In other Houzz discussions I just found, it sounds like most people think they are easy to care for.

I haven't had any problem with mine. They are new, Moen Align style and I do dry off the sink fixtures each time. Much easier than wiping the spots off shiny fixtures in the other bathroom.

Expensive and hard to keep clean. They show every soap mark or water spot. If it's a user bathroom, I would probably reconsider.

If you are someone who wipes down after use they are no harder to keep clean than any other finish. If you don’t frequently wipe down, you will see toothpaste drops, water spots more visibly than on silver metal.

Katie, what did you end up buying? I'm considering the Kohl Purist collection for two bathrooms in either matte black or polished silver. I'm worried the black will be harder to keep clean and may be out of style sooner too.
