Let go of the idea that you have to have the sofa or any furniture at all against a wall. The best solution is to "float" the sofa, in your case, to face the fireplace. Get a really nice very large rug, put it in the middle of the room to anchor the space, and place the sofa and coffee table on it. Some shelving to the sides of the fireplace would be an ideal place to place a TV--on the right unless you have a huge TV. A nice easy chair on the left of the fireplace under the window with a floor lamp or shelf lamp behind it would make a cozy reading corner yet would add to your conversational grouping. We need a to scale floor plan showing all measurements , windows and doorways also marked with measurements. If you already have your furniture all of those measurements too. I can tell you right now to forget the pass through from the kitcheni. I certaily do not think the TV should go above the FP you have walls for theTV to keep it at actual proper viewing height.If you have pictures of the space anf your furniture pieces that is also a big help.

Marie13100, I mentioned in the beginning we are in the process of remodeling our kitchen and we needed to move the dining table into our living room temporarily and cover everything from the dust. Lynn G, you’re right. Having to look at the wall would be a bit depressing. The most recent floor plan I posted that had the sectional along the window and long wall would be perfect because we can view directly outside the patio door which is in the dining room.

Can you return it and get a smaller one? (I admit I think your fireplace wall is lovely and I personally wouldn't ruin it with a television. But I am a tiny minority who has lived without television for almost 30 years.) Is there another room in which to put it, or do you prefer to use this room for watching it?
