Can You Suggest A Light Fixture & Source for Dining Area
Comments (3)les917, we just came back from a trip to Denmark where DS & his new bride live. She had done what you described w/ a swag lamp that she bought at a moving sale. It was a beautiful piece. I neglected to mention that in my DD's home the ceilings are low. Do you still think a hanging lamp/chandelier would work, or would a semi-flush light be better? One thing she considered is having a mirror on the wall behind the table so that reflected the light would make the space appear larger and brighter. It's tricky getting the height of the mirror right, though w/ the low ceilings. She & I both agree that we find it uncomfortable and distracting having a mirror reflecting our images while we're eating or chatting around a table. So, the question is would a chandelier or hanging light over the table make the ceiling appear even lower? It really is a cottage home in style/size, which is why she's looking for help w/ the lighting choice. The other lights in the house are standing lamps and flush ceiling fixtures....See MoreSuggestions for area rug color/pattern for dining table ?
Comments (5)You need 3' behind each chair for "push back" where chair legs don't catch on the edge of the rug, and it doesn't look like you have enough room for a rug. Your table and chairs are really nice and so are your floors, so I would question putting a rug down there. But if you must, and you are on a budget, check Overstock. They have some of the best values for rugs. Houzz does too and I can get you my Trade Discount of an additional 5% if you find something here. Another tip is if you find one you like, get a 2 x 3 size to start with and check it out. You can see true color then and much easier to return if it doesn't work. Then order the size you want. Saves a lot of heavy lifting. I would suggest a cream on cream look unless you want to introduce color....See MoreNeed suggestions for this dining area I am not sure how to decor this
Comments (8)I'm not saying you shouldn't paint the walls, but simple changes such as a larger chandelier and centerpiece, curtains or art may be all you need. Have you looked for inspiration pictures?...See MoreNeed area rug suggestions for dining and entry
Comments (7)Beverly, I like these a lot! I like the thought of pulling out this color rather than the gray, because both of the sofas are gray. I think this would warm up the room. Are you thinking the patterned rug under the table? Can you let me know where you found them? Thanks so much for taking the time to do this. I appreciate it....See MoreSonam Desai
