Question or those of you who use a gas Infrared oven broiler
Comments (6)I have a CC but I'm sure they're all very similar. It takes about a minute for it to light and come up to broiling temps. Basically as long as it takes for the glow plug to get hot. I usually fire up mine as I'm preparing the food for the broiler so it's ready when I'm ready. I think one time I fired it up as an afterthought, and I waited a couple of minutes anyways to let it get good and hot. I didn't actively monitor it. I just turned away to do something else and came back to it. But it was ready so it was a non-issue for me. My range vents out the back, so smoke from broiling has not been issue. I'm sure the Wolf and Viking are similar in this regard. One thing an IR broiler does not do well is blackening. For that, you'll still have to use cast iron and deal with the smoke....See Morequestion for those of you that use a flat bottom sheet
Comments (9)I use flat sheets now for a bottom sheet. It is SO much more comfortable because you can pull the sheet VERY tight and tuck it in. The key is to make sure the sheets you buy are big enough. I bought mine from American Hospitality Supply, the only 100% cotton sheets they have. But you have to buy a case of 12. Still, they're HUGE, very comfortable, and only $20/sheet, which is a deal. Hotels use flat sheets for bottom sheets, which is probably why you can find sheets large enough in your bed size to tuck in on all four sides from hotel supply places. I would take a flat sheet you have now, measure it, put it on the bed, and see the minimum more width and length you'd need to be able to tuck it in on all four sides, then go looking for flat sheets @ that size. $250 - free shipping, so order something else you need as well. I bought a case of All Free & Clear laundry detergent, and it is not the same as the weak stuff they sell in the stores. This stuff smells putrid, but works much better. But it doesn't make the clothes smell at all. These are the sheets I ordered. But definitely take measurements. http://www.ahscompany.com/1888-Mills-Green-Threads-Flat-Sheets-Queen-96x120-100-Organic-Combed-Cotton-White-1-Dz-Per-Case-Price-Per-Dz-_p_20198.html...See MoreQuestion on Kelway phd Meter for those that use it
Comments (0)I bought this mostly for my potted blueberries. When I first bought it, the needle would spike to the right as expected. Now, even after cleaning the tip with the conditioning paper, it does not spike to the right first. It goes straight to the presumed ph level and then slowly stabilizes. The readings are consistently between 4-5, but I do not get that initial spike to the right. Does anyone else have this issue and how important is that initial spike to the right. Do I have a bad meter? I did read on a few blogs and maybe even here that you can use 0000 steel wool to clean in place of the conditioning paper and I did do that some last year. Did I possibly ruin it doing so?...See MoreQuickie questions for those who use chalk paint
Comments (6)I finally finished my project and these are my comments about the chalk spray paint. 1). If you have a small project, this is the way to go. Relatively cheap and paint is very forgiving. Drips can be sanded off super easily. Just repaint sanded area. 2) I had 3 pic frames, so it required 2 cans. Spending $10 in paint seemed kinda high but it was the color I wanted. It might have been a little cheaper to buy regular matte spray paint, followed by an ultra matte sealer and given me same velvety effect. 3) now I understand why you need to wax or otherwise seal chalk painted items. It wears off easily, just like chalk on a blackboard. You don’t want to do all that work and have it come off. Here’s a peek at my frames:...See Morearkansas girl
