How should I arrange furniture in living room?
Comments (0)I have a house with an odd shaped living room. It’s fairly open concept, and leads directly into the kitchen as well as the dining room and foyer. I am getting new furniture and would love suggestions on what pieces to get, as well as where to put them! Our TV is currently mounted above the fireplace mantel. I’m not a huge fan of entirely matching furniture sets or Loveseats. The more cozy and conversational the better- but traffic flow is obviously critical! I’m considering 2 couches, or 2 couches the chair and a half, or all/some with 2 velvet accent chairs. I’ve included pics of the room from different angles, the grey couch/furniture I’m looking at, and a quick sketch floor plan! Thanks to anyone who has advice....See MoreHelp! Comments (74)Curtains would be a good idea. Even though you have blinds for privacy, curtains make the windows look finished. A little eyeliner besides the mascara. I would not do a colored curtain here. Curtains are just to darn expensive to have to switch out when your color palette changes. I would suggest white or off white, whichever you prefer in a silk or silk-like fabric, and get a marvelous trim for the edge. The edge trim can be in a white and black or whatever color you want to take from your rug or elsewhere in the room. I would not do a curtain trim in gold here because I see 4 windows, for 8 panels, that would be a lot of gold. You want tasteful gold embellishment in a space, not Liberace in Las Vegas. Here are some examples of trimmed curtains. Buy the plain curtain, and then buy the trim of your choice, and buy extra trim to embellish throw pillows, and buy coordinating different scale trim for other throw pillows. Another curtain option is a white curtain with a subtle pattern woven or printed on it....See MoreBlank slate LR-how should I decorate?
Comments (12)1. sideboard is too large for the walkway. Move it under the t v. Choose a long sofa console to go behind the sofa. On the now empty walkway wall, you can design for hanging coats, etc. https://www.housebeautiful.com/shopping/home-accessories/g25589411/decorative-wall-hooks/ 2. You could turn the sectional and wall hang the t v on the long entry wall using the t v console you have, With the sectional turned, you would have room for an extra chair by the front door. Again teeny photo...I lik this chair with your sectional, too. https://www.wayfair.com/keyword.php?keyword=front+entrance+chair Found ready-made drapery panels which match the chair. https://jllhomestore.com/products/blue-grey-curtains-grey-white-curtains-light-blue-medallion-curtains-custom-curtain-panels-ogee-print-curtain-panels-linen-blue-white-drape...See MoreShould I accent the ceiling alcoves and or a wall in my living room?
Comments (46)Choosing the right paint colors for your interior can greatly impact the overall look and feel of your space. Here are some considerations: Ceiling: For the alcove and cove ceiling, a matching color or metallic finish can add a touch of elegance and continuity to your entryway. Metallic finishes, like a soft silver or gold, can reflect light beautifully. Art Wall: Since you plan to create an art wall to the left of the entry, consider a color that complements the artwork. A soft neutral like a warm gray or muted blue can provide an excellent backdrop for your gallery-style display. Exterior: The light floral white exterior and gray awnings suggest a fresh and contemporary palette. You might want to continue these colors into the interior for a cohesive look. Lower Level: Once the lower level stucco is dry, assess its color. Depending on its shade, you can choose a complementary or contrasting interior wall color. Ultimately, your choice should reflect your personal style and the ambiance you want to create in your home. Consider getting paint samples to test on your walls before making a final decision....See MoreJAN MOYER
