How should I arrange furniture in living room?

I have a house with an odd shaped living room. It’s fairly open concept, and leads directly into the kitchen as well as the dining room and foyer. I am getting new furniture and would love suggestions on what pieces to get, as well as where to put them! Our TV is currently mounted above the fireplace mantel. I’m not a huge fan of entirely matching furniture sets or Loveseats. The more cozy and conversational the better- but traffic flow is obviously critical! I’m considering 2 couches, or 2 couches the chair and a half, or all/some with 2 velvet accent chairs. I’ve included pics of the room from different angles, the grey couch/furniture I’m looking at, and a quick sketch floor plan! Thanks to anyone who has advice.

You might consider moving the sofa to be centered in front of the window and put the chair nearer the door adding a pony wall height bookshelf (with its back to the chair), with or without doors on the entry side, between the chair and the door to create an entry; perhaps something like this: http://thegamersforce.com/ikea-glass-door-bookcase/bookshelf-inspiring-low-bookcase-with-doors-bookcase-with-doors-ikea-dark-brown-bookcase-with-glass-glass-door-ikea-bookcase-singapore-ikea-glass-door-bookcase-ikea-billy-bookcase-glass-door-instruc/ A barrister style bookcase could also work. Let go of the idea that you have to have the sofa or any furniture at all against a wall. The best solution is to "float" the sofa, in your case, to face the fireplace. Get a really nice very large rug, put it in the middle of the room to anchor the space, and place the sofa and coffee table on it. Some shelving to the sides of the fireplace would be an ideal place to place a TV--on the right unless you have a huge TV. A nice easy chair on the left of the fireplace under the window with a floor lamp or shelf lamp behind it would make a cozy reading corner yet would add to your conversational grouping. This is a close up of a tweedy type rug that might work for you - I just think a darker rug will cozy up the area and complement the ottoman so much better.... This rug has been discontinued and the remaining sizes are probably too big for your space, but it might be a direction to be looking, if it appeals to you: Something like this might work, too. I can't tell for sure about the colors but Pottery Barn has samples available in store if there is one near you, refundable deposit when returned:

So here’s what I came up with. Two things to take note of: 1. I painted three walls with a darker color. Visually, this will trick your eye to think the walls are connected so to speak and become one wall. 2. The wall of drapes. If you can do this, it hides that little section of wall between the windows and makes that seem like it’s one big wall. You will want to put tv on an articulating arm so you can pull it out and angle it toward the sectional.
