stupid!!! stupid!!! stupid!!!!! long rant
Comments (17)LOL .. ya Bonnie he will show up .. he is that stupid :o) He isnt looking at a few months in custody he is looking at maybe 5 - 7 years + +. I have yet to hear for the fool .. but its only a matter of time cuz he doesnt even have any clean underwear .. yuck. I got my new kid on the 5th. So far he isnt any problem at all. But he isnt in school yet so the expectations are pretty minimal. Tomorrow I am going to start tightening the screws :o) We are going to go the Humane Society in the morning (7:30 am) to volunteer. He needs to be doing something so why not work on his 40 community hours that he will need to graduate. I would have to say that the other foster parents in our program are a bit jelouse as my kids are hand picked just for me :o) My old social worker deals with all of the kids in the group homes so she knows me well and what type of kid would do well here. It works out great for me as they are usually an excellent fit so we have little issues :o) This kid is pretty explosive (so they tell me) but I have yet to see any behaviours .. you have to love the honeymoon period :o) He really likes all of the animals in our home which is a plus as the pets tend to defuse alot of the emotions a kid feels. Comments (6)Sure! (And you have all my sympathy, even though I'm smiling, too!) Did that with the first quilt I made using batiks. I was so taken with the black fabric with subdued multicolored animals and plants on it that I planned a whole queen-sized batik quilt in the 9-4 pattern so the pictures in the dark squares would be preserved, like an I-Spy, and I cut out all the pieces in advance. Well, not only did I get a good way into it before realizing that it was going to look awful in a large quilt, I kept getting the pictures upside-down or the larger blocks sewn into the wrong place (I was trying to balance the various pictures so the same ones didn't occur right next to each other.) When I decided to cut it down to a lap quilt, entire blocks had to be moved or eliminated because of this picture-balancing. And when the whole thing was done, I still didn't like it very much. Sometimes I keep it in the trunk of my car. Some of the blocks that I couldn't use in the quilt I saved for small bags. There they look much better. You might use some of yours for bags or pillows and you might love them there. I have also used small log-cabin blocks to make potholders and chair cushions....See MorePainting my tile? - Cont. Comments (17)I am not sure about painting tile...it's not intended to be painted and I am not sure how the paint would hold up. (I.e. it might be okay in the beginning, but tend to chip badly because the paint won't really stick to it). But if someone who knows about painting tiles thinks it is okay, then their opinion should override since I don't know anything about painting tile. If you want to change something, I would change something which can be painted, like the wood trim around your doors and windows and the white shelves. Another thing you can do is paint the interior of any open cabinets (like the one on the wall to the right of your stove). Marcolo suggested green and I think that might look very nice with the white tile and brown wall paint....See MoreKitchen Design Help: Does my kitchen look boring?
Comments (14)Tile, Here's a suggestion for a layout. What I've tried to accomplish: * an open, airy feeling created by storage mostly below the waist and avoiding bulky items around windows/doors/openings * sink and island prep areas allow window views * friendly seating area provided by 15" countertop overhang * min. 36" clearances (OK according to Sarah Richardson kitchen designer) * use mostly drawers - the IKEA ones are super practical for almost everything * replace the corner unit with the 37x37 one, which is generally considered more functional, especially if you put in 32" super susans (mine holds all my pots *and* small appliances) * suggest a smaller, cuter fridge that is more appropriate to the scale of your kitchen - the layout below shows the 28" wide IKEA one, or you could use this adorable model: e.g. Northstar Model 1950 in buttercup (29.5" wide) * put microwave on a shelf below the counter in the island * I would not clutter up your walls with upper cabinets - minimal open shelving for decorative and frequently used items cabinets below are: 1=37" corner, 2=18" drawers, 3=30" sink, 4=edited-dishwasher, 5=24" wide+12" deep, 6=18" wide+12" deep, 7=24" drawers, 8=36" wide - put microwave here, 9=18" drawers This post was edited by feisty68 on Thu, Apr 10, 14 at 14:41...See MoreKate E
