Meet Nala, our new family member.

It was a long drive 1.5 hr each way and long wait at the SPCA shelter but we got her. She is 8 or 9 year old, spayed, Dachshund mix that currently weighs about 20 lbs! Because she was over 7 YO she was a discount price of $75 and then gave us a senior discount so got her for $60.
I can't believe what a mellow, laid back and friendly dog she is. She slept in my arms on the way back and we have been hanging out on the sofa. It is like she has always been our dog. She seems to have already bonded to me, has to sit next to me. She also seems to be house trained. Don't know about crate trained.
Here are the pictures the shelter took. Will try to take some from around here in the future. Unusual markings and snout for a Dachshund so she is a mix. But mix with what?
I already love her just as she is!

Comments (14)Hi Fergus - my name is Ozzie, or at least that's what my new Mum calls me. She is off doing some silly human thing, so I am trying this keyboard thing out. She gets mad when I try to put my opinion in when she's here, so now I have me chance!! Do you like cuddling? I do, especially when Mum cuddles me to her chest and I can feel her heart beat. It's too slow and I worry about her, but she comes home with such amazing food, it must be because she's tired. Do you like to chase leafs?? I love to do that....also to climb trees and fences.....spring is so much fun....I am so glad Mum and Midnight and Nici and Syl moved into my house. The other people and cats didn't let me come in, or share their food. Syl is very old, but lets me curl up with her; Midnight doesn't like me much at all, but Nici is my best bud!!! He is teaching me about living inside, and how to be on my best behaviour. I'm not good at that yet... but am trying very hard - maybe we could have a play-date??? When my now 4 1/2 year old twin grandsons were born at 36 weeks, one spent 1 week in the NICU then another week in the step-down unit. The other twin had blood and bilirubin issues and spent 2 weeks in the NICU, where they performed a total blood transfusion at 8 days old, then 2 weeks in the step-down and then we spent the next year running back and forth to hematologists and pulmonologists.
