Narrow Living Room: Furniture Layout
Comments (21)As usual I agree with groveraxle. Making a natural walkway behind the sofa allowing traffic to flow outside the main living area is always preferable to placing furniture against the wall. Longest tv console possible gives more storage for toys too. The tv between the windows eliminates some of the glare while giving someone sitting on the couch a view outside along with viewing the tv. If you were to use a sectional or more seating I would form the L so that the other side faces the front of the house. That will shield to a point the play area from the front door hiding kids clutter as the first thing you see When you walk in the door....See MoreFurniture layout for long narrow family room
Comments (5)Thanks! I think that's along the lines of what I was thinking, but looking for a comfier arrangement. I'd like the seating to be more set up for TV watching, as we already have another room with a fireplace that is set up in a more conversational layout for entertaining. And I'd like a longer couch but have trouble with the windows being in the way. Sometimes I'm afraid if the couch is off center between those windows it feels strange to me (particularly when putting art on the wall), but if the couch isn't scooched over then I have trouble with the zones working out. I don't think I'd want an oval table - that seems more dining to me? I already have a dining room and a breakfast nook. But maybe an oval is all that will fit there - it's hard for me to tell what kind of dimensions that space can handle....See MoreFurniture Layout in a narrow living room
Comments (21)TV opposite windows works much better -- you can see the the couch squeezes the walkway when you place it as OP proposes. I would have done the drawings as Beverly did. (For that matter, you'll likely find that your TV is wider than that wall between the windows fits comfortably.)...See MoreFurniture in narrow family room with 65 inch tv, fireplace and windows
Comments (28)Have you considered modifying and enlarging the pony wall? Pre-wire it for the TV and get rid of the e-center entirely. Put the two loungers on swivel bases. That will give you a lot more flexibility with the furniture arrangement and two focal points. Here's an example, but yours could be larger and higher if need be to get TV at the right height for viewing....See Moreauntthelma
