HELP! Candlewax all over stone fireplace and wood mantle!
Comments (9)Been there....done that....heard the "trickle" of melted wax running down the mantle, on to the brick, to the tile hearth and splashon the carpet. What will work best is a combination of all the above methods. First scraping all you can with a plastic scraper.....then chilling with ice and using a tooth pick.....and finally using an iron and paper towels to absorb the last of the wax.... I had at least a full cup of candle wax ( from a big multi-wick candle) on my Sarouk.....and I got it up! Just takes patience. Linda C...See MorePainting over mantle
Comments (22)Perhaps if you added a larger pair of brass candlesticks -- maybe with dark green tall candles? That would add a "frame" to the arrangement. Then simply add a dark green ceramic or glass bowl to the coffee table -- to "move" the color around the room. Comments (35)Updated **We painted the wall with samples of both old navy and hale navy. Now I am leaning toward hale navy. Old navy is just too dark for my little space and looks almost black at night. Hale navy is a little grayer than I thought I would want, but I don't think I will find a better blue. I don't want anything too bright - just a sophisticated rich blue that will be easy to decorate with. What do you think? Comments (6)I would consider refacing that fireplace with something to go to the ceiling as for the mirror always think about waht is reflected when you hang a mirror , most of the time nothing worth seeing twice so look for art a much nicer choice and hang the mirror in an entry or somewhere else....See Moredemolition
