Before & After Pictures
Comments (10)I LOVE to see your Before & After pix, John. You have done a fabulous job!! It's great to see how they have grown over time! I'm happy to see you posting pix of your PIG beauties! Sad to say, if I had plants like those on a strip in front of my house, they'd be gone within a week! Now I need to go find Rian's post. I've been away too long (2 weekends of horse shows)!...See MoreProject Updates (before and after pics)
Comments (5)Yes, you are correct. If someone wanted the vanity bench and also had a little table for coffee or reading in their BR, they would just buy them all. Most likely though a person interested in Shabby Chic would not want their bench and chair to be matchy though, and they would opt for completely different ones not ones with matching fabric. That is the philosophy behind Shabby Chic. The chairs and the bench are two completely different styles aside from the mere fact that they are all metal. I think that using two completely different fabrics on them would actually make someone more likely to buy them all for their home. I also agree with the PP that using a more subtle fabric is the way to go....See MoreBookcase Update - before/after pics
Comments (9)I do love these little projects. Thanks for the nice comments. Here are a few pics to show the way we did it. The board I used a "display board" from the local office supply ($8.50) but the only difference is that it had a white side (not needed). I could have easily done it with a large cardboard box piece. My only regret is my DH insisted on cutting the board with my quilting rotary cutter! We cut out the piece of fabric a few inches larger and used packing tape on the back. I needed the extra hands for pulling fabric and taping, especially the corners. No glue anywhere so I can change fabric when I want a new look. The final piece was put in and is held in place by the books. Oh, and I purchased a new blade and marked the old one for him....See MoreB&W Updated Bathroom Reveal
Comments (28)Errant- yes, the doors are mirrored. It's the main bathroom so I didn't want guests using it to see all the soap bottles, etc in the shower. But you'd rather they get a large window size view of themselves while they are using the toilet? You need to get rid of the valance. It looks silly....no good reason for it, and even used decoratively, it doesn't even hang right. If it were my bathroom, I would put a shower curtain up. Pronto. You could hang the rod above the shower enclosure... but that would make it darkish in the shower, unless you have a recessed ceiling light with a diffuser? Or you could have a shower curtain made, you'd pretty much have to anyway, because of the height... but if you did, you could add a strip of sheer fabric to run where the upper open part of the shower is, letting in light. I can't tell beacuse of the angle... but you could also run a rod on the outside of the shower just like a curtain rod. It doesn't have to be a tension rod like typical shower rods.. and it would be best to have the shower curtain made with grommets... easy to slide back and forth. Nice job on the makeover. It looks nice!...See Moreshadylady2u
