When you say it won’t be glued, is it a click lock/floating plank?

I have mannington adura glue down in my kitchen and I’m not happy with it after 4 years. A lot of it might have to do with poor installation (it was supposed to be a professional install but they didn’t do a good job in my opinion). As time has went on, I've noticed lots of gaps in between the planks that dirt gets stuck in and it’s impossible to get out. Also, all of the glue marks have telegraphed through the floor, so it makes it look very fake with half moon shaped trowel marks all over the floor. Again, if you are not using glued planks, hopefully you won’t have problems.

As far as durability, I have noticed several large scratches in the area that receives the most traffic. I think the wear layer on mine was only 12mil. Also, none of the planks are actually attached well and can be pulled right up if you try, I think they may have used the wrong glue though.

We are actually looking to remove it now and put one type of vinyl plank throughout the whole house (small ranch). And this time I’m looking at locking/floating rigid core vinyl plank with a thicker wear layer. Hoping that the rigid core will take care of any telegraphing issues.

We are also hoping if we reclaim the floor, it could be used somewhere else with better installation, perhaps a lower traffic area in our basement.

I know the mannington line I have is already discontinued, and I believe it was a new line when I got it. So maybe they realized there were issues, or maybe it just wasn’t that popular).

Thank you! It will be floating and it’s a 20mil. My first choice is tile but since we’re doing almost the whole house in it, this makes more sense financially.

That all sounds very frustrating! What rigid core product are you looking at?

@L F We ended up going with vesdura spc rigid core planks. It’s funny because I just realized the look is very similar to the dockside planks you are looking at (saw marks etc.):

We must have similar taste! Im really happy with the sample pack we got of it. I looked at so many rigid core vinyl planks and I thought this was one of the nicest ones. It has a pretty decent wear layer too of 20mil, so sounds comparable to the one you are looking at. I ended up making my decision and ordering because it was almost out of stock and they had just a little more than the amount I needed. But I’m sure they will get more in the future, they said it might be a few months til they can get it re-stocked.

Did you end up making a decision on yours?

@knitsewoften we ordered Dockside Seashell. Our first choice was Sand but they aren't producing any until at least April in China but we don't have time to wait, and with everything going on we didn't even know when they will. Thankfully they had some Seashell in the States so we got on board with that quickly ... whew!

I think it was the same situation with my flooring (production uncertainty in China) They only had a few hundred sq ft more than what I need in their warehouse here in the states and said it could be at least a few months until they got more (but with everything going on who knows). So that definitely gave me a push to order quickly, I knew I really liked this one and I didn’t want to wait that long either haha!

Hoping we will have plenty. My husband measured the width/length of our entire house and we went with that sq footage, so I think that will be even more than 10% extra.

@knitsewoften I'm glad they had some for you! When our builder called for ours, they had 11k sqft and when called back a couple of days later they were down to 5k so we jumped on it. 😬

@knitsewoften which flooring color is the picture of? Have you gotten your flooring installed yet?

@Dee Walker We did end up installing Dockside Seashell and I love it. We moved in a couple of weeks ago so I can’t say too much about its durability yet but I love the look, it’s one of my most favorite things about the house.

@L F thank you so much for posting these photos! The floors are beautiful! So nice to see the floors installed:). The sample I had looked lighter, are the photos a good representation of the true color? Sometimes photos can darken things up. I ordered mine, but they won’t be installed for a several month.

@Dee Walker they’re definitely lighter with kind of a grey hue to them. Here’s a pic I just took in good lighting with a little of the cabinet so you can maybe see it better.

@Dee Walker we are in the middle of our install, but we ended up going with Lifeproof flooring. So far I’m loving it.

The original floor I ordered had supply issues. So we went with Lifeproof instead but I’m really happy with how it’s turned out.

knitsewoften, How happy are you with the Vesdura SPC from build direct? Very much considering 2K sq ft for a new build based on the sample, It is impressive, but cannot find any feedback on the product. Any info would be helpful. Thanks.

I agree Michele. I got samples and I liked them but I dont see many reviews about them at all.
