Seeking Advice on Front Door
Comments (2)There are several brands of storm doors with interchangeable glass/screens. I had two different types/brands and will never have another. Too much trouble changing and storing the glass/screen. The advise about no storm over fiberglas is true---in some cases. If the door in question is facing north or east, there is not much worry. If the door is facing west and is partially shaded, the heat factor is lessened. If the storm door is vented, the heat build up is minimized. So, the answer pretty much depends on your door and the situation. Here is a link that might be useful: Just one example...See MoreSeeking advice on garage doors, front door, faux or real wood?
Comments (20)It is hard. It’s a big investment. The main design of your home is a mix of styles so personal choice. The wood garage doors and trims are a bit trendy and not cheap so prefer paint rather than the wood. But if using wood, cedar is best with good stain protection. It does require more maintenance. And using it on Gar doors and posts are help integrate them. A little split rail decorative fence on left side of yard would help balance the look. Nice mock ups!!...See MoreAdvice for front door & shutter update
Comments (22)CRAP! I was trying to figure out how to quote or reply to specific comments and accidentally reported chloebud's post as spam. I'm sorry chloebud! @chloebud Thank you. We love the brick too. They are one of the reasons that we chose this house. I made a thread requesting assistance in identifying them and I'm hoping the right person comes along with some solid information. Here's a link: https://www.houzz.com/discussions/6170934/help-identify-brick @nester44 Thank you. I called myself "looking", but didn't find them. I'm not having the best of luck navigating the site. I don't know what style my house is inside either!!! LOL I do plan to learn before making changes. @decoenthusiaste The thing that I hate about nandina is that you can't just move it and be done. The bed that it came from will likely be empty for months because I want to try to make sure that I've got it out of there. Believe it or not, I'm actually considering replanting it along the open side of my carport. That area is in the view of my carport doorbell camera. When the camera detects motion, it sends a text notification, makes an announcement inside the house, and records 90 seconds of video, The gate for my neighbor's backyard is in between our houses. He uses it about 7 billion times a day, and we get the notifications, announcements, and videos each time. I've visited the idea of blocking the view between the houses several times, but haven't found a quick/simple solution that I can accept. Now I suddenly find myself with with all of this nandina, and I think it would do the job until I close in the carport....See MoreFront door and shutter advice!
Comments (3)I think now a wood door and garage door would be perfect the garage door should not be the first thing you see unless it is a really wonderful garage door. I do not think shutter belong now but the landscping needs some tweaking or at lleast a couple of big pots filled with color on that front entry landing....See MoreHU-267065779
