Decor for a White "Hall" Bathroom
Comments (6)I'd stay away from the wreath or fake flowers if you can. (Though I admit to having fake or dried flowers in mine...they are detested by many.) Instead there are other attractive bath accessories you can get from towel holders, tissue holders, soap dispensers, and things to hold cotton balls and q tips. But I wouldn't go too crazy with kids using the bath primarily... As far as art work, you don't want anything expensive as the moisture in the room could damage it, so stick to prints and such or you can hang things on the wall that are less affected by moisture like plates. Perhaps you should go to houzz.com and look at the bathrooms there for some ideas....See MoreLong, dark, low, depressing hall wall color suggestions?
Comments (32)Trees! That would be fun. I had been thinking of a spot to stick up that Cole & Son "Woods" paper, but a smaller pattern might work better with so many doors. And grasscloth. I had looked into it for my entry hall and living room and elsewhere (perfect cover for 50s paneling, right?) and was under the impression that it just wasn't durable enough. I'd love to be wrong. Or find a good faux grasscloth. WHERE does one go to look at wallpaper in person these days? Seriously, are there any more wallpaper stores? You all have not made this easier at all by giving me so many options I hadn't considered! So thanks! :) Do we all agree that the can lights must go, or is replacing them with ones that actually illuminate good enough? With the furnace intake and an attic access panel and four of the recessed lights, I think that the ceiling is sort of busy and making the light fixtures more substantial might help distract from that. Really, this hall isn't awful. I'm putting off the rest of the house because this is actually manageable. Actually I was planning on doing the entry hall which is well-lit and also brown and thought I needed to carry the treatment into this hall which branches off from it but there is a door. I don't have to match! Gee. I need to focus. :)...See MoreHave Fun Decorating My New Hallway Console
Comments (30)I really want a mirror in there since the hall is so narrow. That is going to be my hardest problem to solve. FWIW I would be able to see in a mirror over the middle of the table as my belly button comes just above the console (36" H) Any mirror I put in there would have to be short though...... some of them are just way too tall and wide. I took a tape measure and measured 39.5" H from the table top (from in middle of the table) to the bottom of the staircase. Knowing the stairwell infringes on the height and some of the width on the left side I was thinking a 30-32" circle or square shape would fit and still allow me to see myself. But a rectangle or quadrefoil shape (Which cuts off some of the sides) may look better. Any suggestions based on my measurements?...See MoreEntryway / hallway decor suggestions
Comments (17)I disagree about not using family photographs there. To each their own but I cannot understand or get on board with the idea of shoving family photos away in a bedroom because they're somehow offensive, tacky, etc. in public areas of a home. Like anything else I think there's a tasteful way to arrange a gallery and the photos themselves and their placement within that gallery are also very important. I'm very particular about the photos I have up/out. I only have a few tabletop pictures sprinkled in the main area of my home that are moved or switched from time to time. I have a gallery wall in my hallway and one in my laundry room. The photos in my home are for me and my family to enjoy. The people that visit are family and friends. My house isn't a public location. It truthfully brings me more joy to see the photos of my family than any other decorative piece in my house. There have been some posters here who have also said people with gallery walls don't actually ever 'see' their photos so it's somehow pointless. I honestly look at mine daily....See Moresmnlwr
