Comments (41)Sorry, funkyart, I missed the earlier post about your plans to remodel the kitchen. I understand now why building a banquet does not make sense. I think it's a gorgeous table. Sounds like you would design your remodel around the table? I'm sure that it will be exquisite incorporated into the new space you design. Will the kitchen be open to the living area? Do you have a rough floorplan you could share? I don't think the table is too "nice" for daily use (and I'm sure it's built to withstand it), but if it were me, I wouldn't want to make that kind of investment in furniture until I had the right space to really showcase its beauty. And as someone in the midst of a never-ending kitchen/family room remodel of a 60s ranch, I know first hand how drastically plans can change due to unanticipated plans. I purchased some furniture prior to the remodel that I thought for sure would be perfect only to have some shifts in the style direction of the remodel. I wish I had waited!...See MoreWallpaper for a powder room and and accent wall in the dining room on

Comments (6)Not understanding the "half wall" comment -- hard to give advice without knowing what the rest of the layout looks like. Right now the wall and doorways control the flow of traffic in a certain way. If/when you remove the wall, what will traffic patterns be like? Let's assume you can successfully relocate the heating and solve the flooring issue...appears that you have pretty large rooms, and will have the opportunity to arrange and rearrange until you find a furniture layout that works for the space. You might consider finding an on-line app or use a furniture store's app that allows you to put in a room's dimension and then put in furniture and move it around -- it's kind of fun....See MoreDining Room inspiration
Comments (24)Your home is beautiful! I agree that painting the ceiling with the pewter is an excellent idea and links the room subtly with the second picture of the sitting area you use. I would raise the ceiling light high, so it lights the room over a greater area and you can walk under it; place the table in the corner towards the door with a beautiful, seasonal arrangement with a splash of color, remove chair so the beautiful table legs (!) are visible; and, place a plush bench/settee on the side wall to create a small reading nook/seating, with a small bookcase next to it. And a pair of ottomans in front of the windows.
