Help with painted brick fireplace
Comments (2)Sorry I don't have any advice on how to go about your refaced fireplace, but just wanted to give you a bump to hopefully get some advice going forward. I do think it would look amazing with the same material all the way to the ceiling. It will draw the eye up. Since your floor has a yellow tone, I would go with warmer tones for the stone. But, there are some amazing midcentury modern offset fireplaces that can be very creative. Here are just a few: It depends what look you're trying to create. I've seen some wrapped in wood, or concrete with a wood mantel. The possibilities are endless!...See MoreNeed help with a good white color for painted brick.
Comments (2)Sorry, I can’t suggest a good white S.W. paint color, but I would not call a white house with charcoal accents “blinding”. It is one of my favorite combos (my ’76 house is white clapboard with black windows and doors). BTW, I used B.M. Super White. You want white; get white. It has recirculating vents with fans to distribute heat. I keep having visions of painting them in hippie colors. So far, I've restrained my self....See MoreNeed design help! Paint fireplace white or stain it black?
Comments (16)if you want it black, you'll have to paint it. trying to stain that black and have it look good will be a serious challenge. (You know you have to strip it down to raw wood in order to stain it black, yes? and an aniline black dye should be used first, then a black gel stain. otherwise you'll never get it black enough). If you just try to wipe on a black gel stain over what's currently on there, it's going to look god-awful and a complete DIY fail. paint is way easier. I also like the white too, but the black is striking....See Moreindiaf
