Make gray look less blue? :(
Comments (19)Opening this up for help and discussion again. Trying not to lose my mind . LOL! Looking for a warm light tan color. A light beige possibly? Baby fawn looks grey/blue. It's too cold for this room. Want an off white with warm brownish tones but no pink/yellow/peach undertones. Any advice? :) may try the Muslin out today!...See MoreHow can I make my couch look less blue, more grey.
Comments (20)Your room is lovely; it's unfortunate that some people get satisfaction from being rude - must make them feel better about themselves somehow. When you put the sample against the couch are they different or the same? Or did you not actually have a sample or just the pic of it. If you don't have a sample, I'd order one and see if they are the same. The color is lovely; I personally think it is much more interesting and livable than a darker gray would be, but that's me, not you. It looks great in your space. Will the store take it back if the fabric doesn't match the sample?...See MoreWhat color do I paint my walls to make my ivory lace look more creamy?
Comments (8)In the photos all the colors seem to appear grayer/bluer than I would expect from how the colors normally appear. That does point to a lighting problem. Not enough natural light combined with not enough indoor light, and maybe not the right color temperature of indoor light. If you have LEDs in your ceiling fixtures, it could also be a problem with poor color rendering (LEDs vary a lot in their color rendering index, or CRI--look for 90 or higher). If you have LEDs, I would check the lamp characteristics first. If the color temperature is above 3000, or the CRI is below 90, that could be your problem. I think Herbflavor may be right though: Your current lighting seems in adequate. Your kitchen would probably benefit from more lighting fixtures (recessed cans) and more total lumen output. Warmer color temperatures (2700-3000K) should help bring out the yellow in the Ivory Lace....See MoreHow do I make my yellowish sofa look better against the Agreeable Gray
Comments (12)You're the umpteenth person today who's asked for advice without showing the entire room. We don't know what the rest of your furnishings look like, floor color, rugs, furniture, accessories. Need more visual information. .Here's my thread on how to get the most helpful suggestions when you post on Houzz. Good design is holistic, not just a three-foot section of a room. https://www.houzz.com/discussions/6067247/design-dilemma-advice-for-first-time-posters Usually the solution to a color incompatibility is to repaint the walls, not replace furniture. Is there a reason you can't repaint to a creamy white that matches your terrific sofa? I don't get why so many people twist themselves into pretzels to stick with gray, gray, gray walls indoors and outdoors even when none of their furnishings goes with gray. Create an Ideabook called "gray and cream living room" and see what pops up. There's a whole thread on "gray living room walls cream sofa on Pinterest." I find the well-designed room below depressing. However, the cream rug, art work, ivory drapes, patterned pillow make it a little dynamic....See MoreFlo Mangan
