Agreeable Gray looks Pink???
Comments (26)I think Gray Owl is the winner. It is subtle and similar to my inspiration pic and definitely not pink. I chose another color and now I cannot for the life of me remember the name. It came out a little brighter and slightly bluer/greener. I need to go back to be sure. It was fairly dry but it is a very overcast foggy day, so I might change my mind! I will keep you posted! When I go back I will take better photos. Here is a photo. Photos never show what is reality, so I am not sure this even helps. From left to right Name of blue/gray/green paint I cannot remember Second is Gray Owl Last is the pinkish hue of the agreeable gray (not agreeing with me)...See MoreHow can I make this TV wall look better?
Comments (69)We have a rainy day here so I've been playing....beginning to think maybe less IS more: I moved the other two prints and put them on the walls beside the FP. I am warming up to this now; maybe I was used to having four prints, and now that they are still in the room, it maintains the continuity I was used to. And......back to the chairs; a pair of these PB chairs has been hiding in the recesses of our CL: Pottery Barn Calais chair in leather They are almost brand new so not exactly a fire sale price; they are asking $500 for the pair. I think that's a little high, but assuming the price was right, do you think they would finish things off well? Or should I leave well enough alone? I'd purchase them only if they are more comfortable than what I have, and I won't know that until I see them. I can't test the link until I post, but in case it doesn't show the right one, the CL chairs are brown leather with espresso stain legs. I still really like the sconces but wonder if this is just as nice in some ways. I am now looking at my FP and wondering if the sconces would look good on either side of my mirror! But, no worries, that will have to wait for another day, lol!...See MoreHelp! How can I make my new couch look better??
Comments (44)I like the sofa but it needs space.....consider emptying the room of anything on wall, table, or mantle so it is basiccally empty, and place items removed on dining room table for future reference. Put the sofa on any wall where it has room for end tables. Put the chair where it can have a conversation with the sofa. At this point I would redo the curtains to coordinate with the wall and do them in a linen type weave. Remove the crystal chandelier and replace with something simple and maybe oil rubbed bronze. Go shopping for a large piece picture in a simple or frameless style that blends with the plaid pillow; take the pillow with you if necessary. So far so good. If you have end tables and a cocktail table put them in the room only if you like them. If they are wood that should be fine. Send us a picture of the whole room taken from another room so we can see the size etc of the room. I am showing this inspiration room because it is very simple with very trad furniture, but the mantle is very low key and would work nicely in your living room style I think. Also note the colorful throw on the arm chair. This is same room, but wood tables and metal cocktail table, simple window treatments in tones found in living room, and antique armoire that is similar to your Moms tallish piece by fireplace. TV opposite sofa and easy chair for great viewing This looks great; metal table, magazine rack in oil rubbed bronze, brass Pharmacy lamp for reading. Would work next to Mom's chair......these items can be found on line at Ballard Design and other places too; overstock.com, wayfair.com with great prices and great selection. Plaid pillows, one bright color pillow and another item in room (the end table, but could be lamp, vase, picture) done in a bright color to match pillow in intensity. And the upholstered ottoman adds a fun touch, but sized to match the sofa. Again a rustic trad feel with a pair of large photos over sofa. Great ottoman, lamps, footstool. Pillows match colors in photos of family members.... These are just inspiration but it might help you select the items that the room needs to frame and support the sofa style and colors. Nothing set in stone but a place to begin....See MoreAgreeable Gray against beige tile?
Comments (95)Have you looked at BM Edgecomb Gray? I had a problem with BM Balboa Mist and SW Agreeable Gray going too blue in my house. Edgecomb Gray is a light warm gray. Sometimes it looks light gray, greige, beige or a light mushroom, depending on the room or time of day. It's a neutral that has worked well in all areas for me. Of course, your home may be totally different though....See MoreRelated Professionals
