All of a sudden ProClassic gumming up horribly
Comments (11)Original poster here--it was not happening with just a new can of paint--it was happening with the bottom of one can of paint and with a brand new can, too. I find that I can get good results with ProClassic only when using a ton of extender. It works pretty easily on thin trim pieces, but you have to be so careful with doors, and the only way is to take the doors completely off, lay them flat, use a ton of extender (till the paint is almost like water) and then use A LOT of paint so when you come back to feather through it is still wet enough to not streak and clump. Even still you can't get a perfect job. Well today I am painting the front of an exterior door, and they recommended I used All Surface Enamel. It is a revelation how much easier this stuff is to work with! It still dries pretty quickly, but you can actually pull your brush through more than twice before it ruins the paint job. I wish I would have started using this long ago, it would have literally saved hours and hours of work and turned out much better results. I have no earthly idea how anyone can possibly use ProClassic straight from the can successfully on any surface larger than a couple inches wide or long. Oh and I have been using a really good Corona Excalibur brush, so that's not the problem....See Morewhat-cha-all up to?
Comments (4)Well Gene --- though you say your coffee pursuits may have scared everyone away - it seems to be the only thread that got anyone's attention! I have started to make my own coffee --- but just to save the cash! It's got to be cheaper than $1.00 a cup (16oz) if I make it at home, right? Course, after I bought the cheapest maker in town (maybe $29 for a Braun w/britta filter) and a thermal mug @ $8 and the flavored creamer, who knows? I bought some Folgers cause it was on sale. Just okay. I end up putting in so much creamer that it's probably about 1 gazillion calories and more than $1/cup. Sigh. On the shuttle arm - it's received rave reviews - especially the new "boom" with the damage detection sensors. I took a lot of robotics in my senior yr of engineering --- back when it was mostly manual!!! Ha - won't be of much help today. But, the telecomuting definately perked my interest. It will allow me to take some pre-med classes at the university now! How's the Miata? I used to have a prelude. Loved running around in it --- but much too small for my x-large dog crate these days. I'm on the other end of the spectrum now, driving a huge-mungus Armada. Impulse purchase that I dream of getting out from under. Sigh again. Have a good weekend all .... I have a lot of homework to catch up on - but I'm gonna get some shopping in sometime!...See MoreIs this messed up or what?
Comments (16)I agree, the one inch gap doesn't sound right, but I bet it could easily be fixed with a piece of trim. I don't know how to describe it exactly. We have a some trim around one of our top cabinets (the cabinet was going in between two walls) It is about maybe an inch wide, maybe a half a centimeter thick, but it fits right over the edge of the cabinet and butts up to the wall. I would imagine the only other option would be to remake those two cabinets. I am not sure how it works....how close are you to "move in ready"? do you have countertops? I assume that you bought "the plans of a house" so to speak You buy it they build it and you got to have input on finishes etc? I wonder if you could find yourself a home inspector it may be worth paying someone with credibility to make him fix anything else that is wrong. Comments (19)It's all fun and games until somebody loses their mind...then it's a remodel! ::grin:: Mine occured with a sudden obsession that the fridge would be too wide and the door would bump the breakfast bar. I was completely wrong. It was, however, too tall. Which I missed, because I was panicking horizontally and not vertically. (I'll never make THAT mistake again! Next time I will panic equally in all directions! HAH!) Even with that little mishap I love my kitchen. I completely understand your worry, but I hope it helps to know we have all been there, and you will live through it. Now is the time for the glass of wine/margarita/cup of sleepytime tea and a breather. DH has lost all voting rights due to a late ballot submission. Call your KD tomorrow and talk with him/her, then make a decision. Good luck, and keep us posted! Emmie...See More- 6 years ago
