What is a good source for floral wallpapers-vintage looking?
Comments (10)sis2two - sometimes you can find an affordable wallpaper that has the look you want. I went to Sherwin Williams store and scoured all their books (they had lots) and found lots of nice stuff (some high end, some moderate, some inexpensive). You don't even have to place an order with them...if you find something you like in one of the books, you can simply write down the pattern/designer and then actually purchase online from places like American Blinds and Wallpaper, etc. Benjamin Moore stores have lots of books too....See MoreAre wallpaper borders out of style?
Comments (46)Ottertail, Do you love the border and is it something that will add to your enjoyment? I think you home is your castle and it should be decorated for you and your family's enjoyment. Here's my own "It's Out of Style" faux pas: My DH and I recently built and moved into a new home. I used brass for my door hardware (balwin brass), my kitchen hardware and my lamps (vintage stiffel)/lighting (waterford). I love the warmth of brass (not the yellow, shinny, fake stuff) and I love how it fits in with my tradtional decor. Now, I'm sure there are some who would walk in my home and say to themselves (and a few even out loud), "Why did she put out of style brass in her new house?" While others would say, "I love that you went with the brass" and would admire me for going with what I like. My friends like me for who I am and appreciate the fact I beat to my own drum. Bottom line, brass is what was right for me and my family. Add the border! Get on the bandwagon! Start decorating to your own beat! P.S. I used chrome fixtures in my bathrooms:-0 They look perfect with my silver vanity pieces, but that's another story for another post....See MoreDoes this look like "Great Auntie's Wallpaper"?
Comments (66)oh I usually go for flowers and mixing and stuff..(not without exceptions-my favorite set is (almost) plain linen)..really couldn't care less whether it looks like my great aunts or not..also my great aunts -I didn't know all of them well..big family-but the ones I knew were women I admired a lot..so I wouldn't mind the connection. I love to go for more contrast probably..right now PB has something I love, theoretically speaking..I think it mimics old botanic drawings..so pretty. I understand that's not your preference,,wouldn't quite work in my place too. But it's cool. I also bought this one(had credit and gift cards to be used) quite some time ago but haven't try it yet..I ordered sheets to go with it and am still waiting for these. http://www.potterybarn.com/products/helena-embroidered-printed-duvet-cover-sham/?pkey=cduvet-covers-shams%7Cpatterned-duvet-covers-shams&isx=0.0.2118 I really like Anthropologie for their patterns..this is more great aunt to me, but I like it..have somewhat similar sheets..:) https://www.anthropologie.com/shop/helen-dealtry-floral-duvet?category=bedding-duvets&color=095 I also like OneKingsLane, RueLaLa and Gilt for their bedding sales..so I'd check there from time to time. Most of our bedding was bought through their sales..including my beloved linen one. Great savings. And yes, I usually pile throws etc too..right now I have three on my bed..not for beauty I must say(one would suffice) but because Southern California is so darn cold)))) in winters....See MoreWallpaper for daughter's room?
Comments (9)I think it's pretty and if you both love it you should go for it but on the advice of others here, just do one wall. But beware, my daughter is soon to be 12 and we've gone through one minor color and style change (from pink to buttercup yellow) and one major (from yellow to bright turquoise and zebra print) in her bedroom, and that's since since she was 8. Now, she wants grey walls, with rose gold accents.... I told her to wait 6 months to make sure she doesn't change her mind. Kids are fickle, so just go into it with an open mind that it likely won't last as long as you think....See MoreUser
