Street Style: Florals Done Right
Wallpaper spotted at a Brooklyn boutique gives us ideas for bringing vintage florals back home
Peek inside the Brooklyn fashion boutique Jumelle, and you'll discover this amazing vintage wallpaper on an accent wall. The oversized floral pattern and moody color palette make this wallpaper as hip as the clothes inside the shop. Read on for a few wallpaper picks that capture that floral style, and some easy ways to bring some into your own interior.
Petal Pusher Wallpaper, White & Black
Aptly named Petal Pusher, this mod wallpaper designed by Joy Cho (of the blog Oh Joy!) features large blooming flowers pushing onto the scene. The black-and-white palette creates a dramatic statement.

Graham & Brown's take on florals has a vintage, romantic vibe. (This wallpaper also comes with a more affordable price tag!)
Cath Kidston - Antique Rose Wallpaper
When I think about florals I adore, my mind jumps to Cath Kidston.
While the colors are lighter and more trad in this pattern, the wallpaper still feels distinctly fresh and current.

4 Ways to Make the Most of Your Wallpaper
DIY: Wallpaper Goes Mobile
Do you love the look of floral wallpaper but can't commit an entire wall to it? Here are 6 unexpected (small) ways to add some flower power to your space.
1. Make it glow: Add a pop of pattern to a plain-jane lampshade by covering it in wallpaper. Create a paper template first and then use spray adhesive or Mod Podge to stick the wallpaper onto the shade. A cylindrical drum shade would be the easiest shape for this project.
2. Divided we bloom: Room dividers are a practical solution to divide up a space with multiple uses (especially with a home office that you'd like to be undercover when not in use.) A custom room divider will cost a pretty penny, but you can dress up a folding screen with wallpaper. (You can actually make your own folding screen by simply hinging together a pair of bifold doors from your local home center.)
3. Make it art: Frame a favorite floral pattern and hang it over the mantel. This is a great solution if you fell in love with a wallpaper pattern but can't afford the entire roll. Simply order a sample of the paper (usually $5) and frame the sample piece for your wall.
4. Hang flowers overhead: You can DIY your own headboard with foam-core panels and some floral wallpaper. For a bold, patchwork look, try a grid of square foam-core panels covered in a mix of floral patterns.
5. Add romance to your novels: Turn a basic bookcase into a standout piece by adding wallpaper between the shelves. Choose a smaller flower pattern so you avoid the need to match up the design.
6. Shaded in flowers: You can create a pretty window shade for a small window by adding a favorite wallpaper to a simple roller shade. The trick is choosing a roll that matches up to the width of your window.
