Home staging...advise on interior neutral paint colors
Comments (21)We sold a house in FL in a terrible market and everyone who saw it thought it was refreshingly different from all the other "neutralized" houses on the market. I think it is important to stand out in some way, to be the one house they remember after seeing the other thirty. That doesn't mean red flocked wallpaper (probably) but I don't think neutral paint or decorating is necessarily the answer. The other thing that made that house stand out to the buyers was that it was far cleaner than any others they looked at. I have an accepted offer on another house right now in a stagnant market and I just can't stress enough how important removing the "ick" factor is. We get used to our own dirt, but to others, it is ick. Making sure there is not one square inch that would illicit an ick response is more important than choosing the right paint color, IME....See MoreWhat color scheme on the exterior of the house??!
Comments (17)i like that color much better, If you paint the shingles (which is perfectly understandable) I would actually go lighter. As a rule with more traditionally styled architecture, you want to embrace the sense of "gravity"; visually, darker colors have more weight and should go towards the bottom, and as things progress they should get lighter. So the siding would be roughly the same tone as the stone, and then a bit lighter for shingles in my opinion. I'm not sure where you live but certain climates are good for letting shingles weather if you're still considering it. Out west where the climate is drier shingles will get a nice, silvery grey effect. On the east coast its a bit different and things can become "splotchy"...See MoreHELP choosing color scheme for my house!
Comments (2)Don’t mind my curtains. I flipped some around to see what a lighter color would look like. These are the curtains that were left here. I would like to get Roman shades/roller shades and then possibly curtains just for decor...kitchen will be converted to white as well...See MoreColour scheme questions for rustic creole house on tropical island...
Comments (7)Congratulations, what an amazing house. I like all of your ideas, and understand it’s hard to choose ... I would just start collecting pictures and inspiration you like. There are so many search terms you can use, as well as look at your favorite magazines for aesthetics you like. Going through them all should hopefully help you see what you‘re most drawn to, and help narrow things down. Your furniture as is looks perfectly fine for now — it absolutely lends itself to an eclectic and personal look. Maybe move in first and see how the lighting is throughout the day, as well as how you live in the house before deciding on furniture colors, paint, etc. Take your time to get a feel for everything. Get lots of lamps (and I disagree strongly with 4000 LEDs anything for the atmosphere of this house). Don’t touch that awesome and historic fireplace. At least not immediately. :) Such an exciting and unique project, I hope you’ll update us. Just sharing these in regards to colors and art ......See Moremorz8 - Washington Coast
