Can I remove my unused dryer vent?

Sarah

My stacked washer/dryer is in a closet that is too shallow and wide for them--I had to take the doors off because the washer/dryer are too deep, and there is at least 6 inches wasted on either side. I would like to remove the drywalled closet area and put the machines in an appropriately-sized cabinet with retractable doors (so the doors can stay open when the machines are in use). Due to size restrictions, the dryer is a ventless condenser model that does not have any mechanism for an actual vent. Therefore, the vent pipe sticking out of the floor to the right of the machines (between the machines and the wall) is not being used, and it would interfere with the retractable doors that I want

. Can I remove it and patch the floor, or is it required to be there for some other reason?
