Any reason to not paint soffits & fascia dark color?
Comments (3)One of the reasons lighter colors are popular on houses is that they do not fade as fast as dark colors in strong sunlight. Also, the use of white on architectural detailing makes them more distinct and prominent. Brown contains some red so it sometimes fades to a soft muddy color. I would also be concerned about fungus on dark soffits in damp climates. Be sure to look at similar colors on the soffits of other houses. If the contractor has never used this color range in this manner before I would be skeptical of his advice....See MoreSoffit a different color than fascia?
Comments (9)Shakes were the other thing we considered v/s the stacked stone for the entryway. In the end my wife and I both decided we liked the stacked stone look better. But it certainly would have been cheaper to go with the shakes. :) As of right now, the only thing ordered for the front is the door/sidelights/transom. We could possibly still change on mind on the stone....See MoreDark grey vs White quartz counter with dark hardwood floors
Comments (38)HI joshua123, The kitchen tile is from Pratt & Larson. It is a custom waterjet mosaic piece in marble. The color is a dark grey with a lot of variation. the exact color is bardiglio. the white boarder and interior boarded are snow white marble. kathy and Micah at pratt & lason were extremely helpful finding exactly what I wanted for our kitchen. I'll have to post a couple more pictures from a sunny day, as the ones I have posted dont really reflect the real colors. as far as style and mosaics being dated or not, I'm a firm believer that you should go with what you love and what speaks to you. you are going to be living in the house and walking into that kitchen every day. I dont think our kitchen mosaic looks dated at all, but I'm also not a designer. I can tell you it makes me happy when I walk in to make my morning coffee in that room. I did consider using more of that tile to cover the entire backspace area from the cooktop to the hood, as diana illustrated in some of her photos, to really give it a more modern look, but it was too expensive to justify in this house....See Morebegging for help! stucco, fascia, soffit color
Comments (3)Before you consider painting, it's time to address the overgrown landscaping items around the home. Many items are way too tall and way too high. They need to be cut back or replaced. Sometimes just painting the shutters and trim a bright white is enough to spark a new appearance on your home....See MoreLori A. Sawaya
