Weekend Trivia ~ Saturday
Comments (21)Well Ladies, you have done well!! 1. Shirley Maclaine won the Oscar for Terms of Endearment, co-starring Jack Nicholson and Debra Winger. Fun Movie. Bonus point would have been for guessing Turning Point, with Anne Bancroft and Mikhail Baryshnikov. 2. Ellen Burstyn is our Mom. Alice doesn't Live Here Anymore was Martin Scorsese's debut movie. Most people remember the TV version, with Linda Lavin. Ms Burstyn also played Mom to Linda Blair in The Excorcist. I never saw the movie cause the book scared the bejebers out of me - only time I ever read a novel in one go - all night. 3. Imitation of Life was what we were going for....the 1959 version starred Juanita Moore and Susan Kohner as Mother and Daughter. The 1934 film starred Louise Beavers and Claudette Colbert. Heavy stuff. 4. Ah yes, you guessed the inimitable Bette Davis. Four decades later Reynolds played mother to Albert Brooks in Mother. 5. And lastly, who could forget Julia roberts turn as Erin Brockovitch. And Albert Finney, her mentor - anothergreat movie. Well everyone, go out and star in your own movie today. We'll have to see if Cynthia has posted yet - hope so, though I haven't seen her on Facebook the last couple of days. For Bobbie and Annette: And the bonus star to Bobbie for guessing the turning Point: Thanks for playing - did anyone else have problems getting to the page because of an aggressive ad about the food saver? Very pesty, and I'm wondering if that's what happened to our Cyn. Have a great week All. Nancy....See MoreHave you ever noticed....................
Comments (5)Yes, and it is very annoying - whether it be skin care, cosmetics, hair colour or clothing. The Marina Rinaldi catalogue uses models that are about size 10 - but the clothing starts at about size 16. glenda_al - I think that SJP has had another form of "skin tightening" - because I sure wouldn't count on the product she is pushing to do it. I can handle the ads with Diane Keaton for L'Oreal - who seems to have now been replaced with Jane Fonda. Too bad I can't use the cream (which by the way costs $37 in Canada, plus our 13% tax - yet in the U.S. costs $19.99). Canadians are "international" only when it comes to shopping it would seem....See MoreWeekend Trivia Quiz
Comments (6)I would've thought it was shoe. So close to zapato ;) Hm, my four favorites will be my guesses: Raquel Welch (I was close! March 25, 1974) Sofia Loren (February 2, 1976 (she was embroiled in tax evasion in 1974)) Ann Margaret (March 24, 1975) Grace Kelly (September 1, 1975, as Princess Grace) My edits are to add the dates I found. I was wrong, but I was in the ballpark at least. This post was edited by rob333 on Fri, May 16, 14 at 8:52...See MoreSuggestions for movies (not series)
Comments (46)Enchanted April is one of my all-time favorite movies....have you seen it? It's a period, British romantic comedy from the 1920's which is charming and funny. The four female characters range in age from 20's to 70-ish, are single, not happily married and widowed (I think). It won the Golden Globe (for acting I believe). Oops....I checked, and Netflix no longer has it to stream.....but my library has it so I assume others may also? It's a gentle, visually luscious film.....not slapsticky comedy. I believe you'd love it....See MoreLars
