Do the flowers and leaves of your plant look the same as the ones in my photo? Is it possible your plant is the same and was sold under a different name? Sometimes the same plant is commonly known by a different name, depending on the region. Perhaps try googling the name you know your plant by and see if it has any AKA's. My original plants came from purchased seed that was labeled by the name I use and when I look up the plant online, it appears to be the same plant as the one I grow. On the Burpee's seed site, shown below, the description reads: "Salvia, Lady In Red Attracts butterflies and hummingbirds. All-America Selection Winner. Lady In Red is a superb selection of the wildflower, Salvia coccinea, with its open and airy bright red, 6-8" spikes. Sow seeds indoors 8 weeks before last frost. Native wildflower." I would understand this to mean 'Lady in Red' is a superior performing version of the wildflower, Salvia coccinea. Perhaps you have the wildflower version of this plant, if not 'Lady in Red'. I have noticed one thing, and that is that people often write in asking "for advice", when what they really want is vindication or back-up for their own wrongheaded ideas. They want people to agree with them, so they can feel they have 'permission' in a way to do what they've already decided on, regardless of how wrong it might be, and if they don't get it, or absolution for their crackpot ideas, they fly off the handle and say they're being attacked. Well don't ask for advice if all you really want is company for your agenda, rather than actual ideas on the issue as others might see it, or know it (if they're professionally knowledgable in the field), etc. Not everyone is going to agree with you on every issue all the time, that's not only unrealistic, but you'll also never learn anything that way and everyone has their own experiences to share, but they/we are all trying to help in our own way, so cool your jets and say thank you, instead of going off mad!

I have one of those photo album-type binders; it works really well for me. I always try a recipe before saving it, and if I decide to save it, I often rewrite it onto a 4 x 6 card before sticking it in the binder, but I do have some clippings in there, too, that I've tested and are worthy of saving. New clippings or recipes off the net go into a folder that's in my home office, and when I'm in the mood to try something new I choose something from the folder. I have a bookshelf in the great room adjacent to the kitchen where I keep most of my cookbooks (I don't have a large collection), but I do have a couple stored out of sight under the counter (much as I love my old tattered Betty Crocker cookbook from when I first got married, it really isn't nice enough to be on display LOL!). I am another one who doesn't want to read off a screen while in the kitchen, and like an above poster, will forget about things saved on the computer -- so no use of tech for me outside of searching for a recipe off the net and printing it off if I wan to find a recipe for a particular purpose (like if I'm in the mood for something or want to find a recipe for a particular ingredient). My tastes have changed over the years as my cooking skills have increased and my palate has expanded. I enjoy all sorts of foods and flavors, and it's not so much that I gravitate towards any certain type of recipe; rather, I gravitate away from recipes with certain ingredients or taste profiles that I don't like (e.g. I really dislike any sweetness with animal proteins) or seem overly complicated to prepare. I only clip recipes I am actually interested in making, though.
